it's my main mouse, but i find the rev to be a poor choice for games.

Very much agreed. The scroll wheel is way too "loose" and I would often find myself switching weapons in FPSes while just moving the mouse. Went back and bought another MX518 (that was the mouse I had before the Rev).

I hate the finish on the G5, I touched it and it felt so bad to touch. It wasn't even matte when I saw it, it was like bumpy.

I have been using MX518 for 2 years now and MX500 3+ years before that. They still work very well

I have an MX510, two MX518s and a G5. I prefer the G5 for the more convenient sensitivity switching compared to the MX518 and it's much more precise in comparison to the revision 1 MX518 with 1600 dpi (the way I see it, the first one had 1600 dpi, second one has 1800 dpi and third one has G5 feet).

I have a Logitech G9. It took some getting use to because it is smaller and different feeling than my MX518 that stopped working but I like it now. I definitely like the button layout on the side, zooming on FPS games is so much easier than what I use to have to do.

I used an MX300 for 5 years until I lost it while moving. My left button had the paint completely worn off and the plastic was starting to break down where I click, but it still moved and clicked perfectly.

Replaced it with a G5 (v1) for $20, heh.

I'm still using an MX1000. Haven't found a replacement that has as many buttons immediately available. Tried a razer lachesis for a bit, returned it though - wasn't anywhere near as nice as the mx1000.

I love my MX1000 -- but the scroll wheel button has worn out. :( Logitech has damaged-box MX1100's for $32, so I may try one of those...but it takes AA's, which I don't like.

Get the MS Sidewinder X3. It doesn't have a fancy weight system, and the software is really good. I have a Logitech G9 that I use at home, and the Sidewinder at work -- and I prefer the Sidewinder. The Logitech's really comfy but given the shoddy software and drivers (damn you setpoint!) it makes it annoying to use. The X3 is well built and what else do ya want?

Should be cheap too.

if you liked the intellimouse so much, why not the later models of it?

wireless mouse, yes even the MX revolution has issues in fps games. if you don't fps, then i guess it might be okay.

just get the best wired mouse, then get a mouse bungee to make it feel like a wireless. go to a store to try it out yourself and see how different mice feel in your hands.

Im old school. Im used to neutral mice and still use the arrow keys. Nowadays every mouse is right handed and even though im right handed im still used to the neutral mice. Im gonna give the MX518 a try though, ill have to get used to these right handed mice eventually. I was actually doing fine with the right handed HABU until i realized the pick up distance was atrocious.

I used to have an MX1000, however I couldn't stand the HUGE delay for the sensor to re-engage itself if you lift the mouse up.

I'm using an MX518, it seems to be holding up nicely. The only annoying part is I can't get the mouse to default to 1600 dpi when Windows boots up.

With wired mice you also have the ability to increase the USB poling rate, which you can't really do on a wireless mouse. My MX518's sensor tops out at 600hz, so I increased my USB poling rate to 500hz. Made a subtle but nice difference.

I have 2 Microsoft Sidewinders, and one Sidewinder X5. The X5 now sits at my work computer in my office.

They're that good.

I've been happy with the G5. I find it's a good size for my hand and since they've added the second thumb button on the left side of the mouse like the MX series, it's been very good.

I also don't particularly like the finish.

G5 is my choice for my large hands. I had one start to go bad but Logitech replaced with a short support call.

btw, if you liked the old intellimouse, how about considering razer deathadder? a little bit similarity in shape and it's both left/right hand usage mouse.

I went from an MX1000 to the MX Performance. Im happy with the Performance. Also, there was a claim that the wheel was too loose, but there is a button to switch between two modes--smooth wheel and "notched" wheel. I never use it in "smooth" though.

Wow, I've never even heard of the Performance. I think I've found my new mouse when my MX Revolution dies.

Yeah, but MX1100 has 9month battery life (on the site) dunno what the actual is -- it seems ok to me.

I have the microsoft sidewinder mouse, but really I just went to a store and picked the mouse that fit my hand best with side buttons that were where I naturally kept my fingers.

For past year or so I had the logitech g9. A few months ago I sold that and decided to get the mx518 instead. I have bigger hands so, I think I like the mx518 better. The 518 is probably more popular.

Another vote for the MX518. I've had mine for a couple years now and just got my GF one off of Ebay for $25 since she always hated going back to her crappy Dell mouse after using mine. :)
