I have been feeling lately that I am only using my gaming computer for the forums, ever since I beat half-life 2. I LOVED half lfie 2, so I would like a game sorta like that. I played a Doom3 demo and it was so boring, the same thing over and over, you walk into a room, something jumps out, and you shoot it. I don't have many games, so give some suggestions and i'll tell you if I have it or not. Thanks.

Overall I was very dissappointed with D3. I never even finished it, 'cause I got so sick of using that lameass flashlight.

Makes me think about the movie they have coming out:

Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher's Bay. Should be able to find it cheap now.

I have been thinking about Far Cry.
Never heard of Hitman: contracts before
UT 2004 seems old.

Yea, if you haven't done Far Cry, you should. It's a little too difficult in some parts.

Also fun are the Call of Duty games.

I like the call of duty games. I have Finest Hour, and I have played a demo for the first one. I'm waiting for call of duty 2 to come out, but in the meantime, I think i'll look at far cry. Keep the suggestions coming!

quake 4 should be nice (FPS, like unreal tournament now that it has a storyline)

CoD 2 will be like your HL2 experience (FPS: multiplyer, but great single player version too)

Elder scrolls: oblivion will be out in late december (RPG, single player only)

I loved the Painkiller demo. For some reason, I still get the impression the graphics of Painkiller (especially the latest version) best anything out there as for graphics, and additionally still maintain excellent FPS. I also have a lot of redundant redundancies in my sentences.

PK and it's Xpak is MUCH "deeper" than the Serious Sam series . . . there are unlockable levels, alternate endings, the MOST crazy 'secret places' you can imagine and undocumented weapon's combos - did i mention great usage of the Havok 2 physics engine? . . . plus the best sky-boxes in any game to date

recommended.

Go to www.the-underdogs.org and do a search for "System Shock 2" (- quotes). It's a great FPS from 1999 but got little or no recognition. This game was the precursor to Thief (only u can actually kill people). The graphics are above average even for modern games, and this game will scare the crap out of u if u play it in a dark room. It also has the most developed plot I've seen in an FPS, but this is not a shooter game. It is action-packed, but the game is not about the action. It is now abandonware and is about 128 MB download.

Edit: Just to clarify, when I said the game is not about the action, I meant is isn't a mindless shooter like D3.

i just finished SS2 [by installing a dual-boot with Win98SE] and although it is a "classic" - imo it is no longer great if it were released today [since the games it inspired have finally surpassed it - mostly by ripping off its innovations].

it was an extraordinary game in '99, but the Dark Engine is rather dated even with the texture packs and the SS2 interface is 'clunky' . . . imo, DE surpassed it with better gameplay, gfx and interface. SS2 is a hybred - part RPG, part FPS . . . and i tended to find the enemy respawning endlessly rather tedious instead of 'scary' . . . you are also forced to specialize your character.

i'd love to see SS2 completely remade.

ANYway, IF you have Thief 2, dlwnload the newly released expansion pack: TX2: Shadows of the Metal Age . . . although the gfx are about as dated as SS2's, this 13-mission Xpack is really as good as anything Looking Glass Studios released . . . a welcome addition to the Thief Series.

If you want "newer" gfx, consider DeuSex: IW and Thief - Deadly Shadows . . . both are worthy additions to thei respective series - BTW, Thief DS runs much smoother than DE:IW [incredible shadows and lighting plus "atmosphere"]

yeah, a little problem there. It took me a month to talk my mom into letting me get half-life 2, if it's "very mature", then I doubt I will be able to have it.

i'm glad i mentioned it then . . . it is set in a prison where you get to sneak up behind someone and break their neck . . . plus the game is liberally peppered with the F-word.

i'd highly recommend DE:IW and Thief DS if you haven't played them . . . they are from '03/'04 . . . FC is great gameplay and a crappy story but excellent outdoor gfx and good [if difficult to beat] enemy AI and no proper 'anytime save' . . . i liked it but not as well as HL2.

Serious Sam 2 is out next month [FEAR too; or is it this month?]
