Pulled this deal from out of my "wallet."
Staples is selling the NEC Multisync 97F flat screen19" monitor for $280. Use the $50 off 200 coupons to bring that down to $230. There's also a $50 dollar mail in rebate that brings it down to $180 AR. As far as I know, shipping is free and it's in stock.
Actually, I picked one up for the same deal at Circuit City. The Staples only has the Beige color monitor in stock. I noiced on the rebate the Circuit City is also listed. They have the black version in stock. Well, I wanted to see the monitor myself and so went down o the local CC to check it out myself. It has an 18 inch viewable and a .20-24 dot pitch. I ran a few short video clips and the colors looked great. Skintones were fine. Geometry also looked good. I noticed that this was an Invar Shadowmask tube, and I was worried since I use a trinitron at work and have heard they're usually better. However, this monitor looked bright enough and text was clear. My final worry was if it was really "flat." I wanted a real flat screen and not one of the "flat square" tubes. Technically, for all I know it may still be a "flat square" but it looked perfect flat to me. So, it may or may not be perfect flat but I couldn't see any difference.
Anyway, I liked the black better. CC was able to price match me the $50 off $200 coupon that Staples has, so I walked out for $230 and need to send in my rebate to bring it down to $180. So, if you want a black version, you might try that.
And to think I was about to spend $280 on a perfect flat Refurbished 19" IBM....
