Neb Att. General refuses Illegal Aliens a free lawyer.

Hispanic couple in this country illegally were asked for I.D. while renting an apartment while non hispanics were not.


E.O.C.heard about it and are pissed.They want to go after the landlord.


Neb. A.G. says

"I'm not going to use taxpayer dollars to file lawsuits for illegal aliens," said Bruning after learning the couple was in the U.S. illegally. "You're not going to get a free lawyer" from his office, he said, "if you're not a citizen of this country."

Now:

Critics say Bruning's legal rationale is so off-base that he may end up in court after all ? and not as a prosecutor. Immigration activists suggest they may be laying the groundwork for a first-of-its kind lawsuit, with Bruning as the defendant.

I understand what the landlord did was illegal and discrimination. So fine him or punish him to whatever the law says. Do not however give the hispanic couple free services and send them back.

"No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws."

Its clear that non cititzens are protected if they are within the jurisdiction of the United States.

Simple soultion is, let them file a suit. And then have INS deport them when they show up.

They arent asking for a lawyer and it wasnt the illegal aliens that asked for the AG to get involved. It was infact it the E.O.C. that requested the AG get involved. They are asking the AG to do its job and prosecute the rental company under state laws.

The AG is violating the the whole equal protection of the laws line. If this were to go to court the AG would ultimately lose.

QFT. What if the AG uses this argument against visa holders who are legally here, but aren't allowed to work and thus do not pay taxes (i.e., select F1 students, tourists, etc.?)

I have a problem with them not providing proof of who they are. I've seen too many illegals pull crap and then dissapear.

I'm from South Dakota and we have an illegal alien problem here also. Just because the boarder states handle illegals one way doesn't mean we have to do the same.

I know a guy (good friend of my brother) whose girlfirend lived in an small apartment complex for years. Once the illegals starting coming in they had rented all the other apartments there but hers and they were continually harrassing her. I assume they wanted her to move out.

One evening he pulled up and they were harrassing her on her way into her apartment. He went over and told them in no uncertain terms to back off. He ended up getting in a fight with one. A couple days later he went over one evening to visit his girlfriend and they were waiting for him with a gang of people and beat him up so badly he ended up in the hospital for a few days.

He went to the police and tried to get something done, but they wanted names. Nobody knew their names but he said he could identify them. They told him without names they couldn't bring them in?? So nothing was done.

So yeah, show them your ID or get the hell out and fuck La Raza and their whining ass lawyers. Nebraska isn't California, get used to it or get out.

I think if someone is charged with a crime, they can get a lawyer appointed to them. There is a lot of talk whether immigration is a legal matter or a civil matter. I consider it a Legal Matter. No one forced the people from Mexico to come here, so they can go back on their own.
