Nearly a fight over a gas pump? (in broad daylight)

i generally just kill with kindness and it prevents me from having to deal with the legal repercussions of an assault.

I would have said, "Sorry, I thought you were done. My bad, I'll get out of your spot as soon as I can."

You did add a little bit of a zinger here, "Me: "My problem was that I needed gas, now I don't have that problem""

You better want to be willing to escalate if you want to throw stuff like that out. I'm not saying you aren't justified in giving him a little verbal smackdown.

Much better way of handling it. It makes sense to think the guy was done pumping and inside paying for his gas.

OP now has to watch his back when out and about in his neighbourhood.

Alright. I don't really get it, but was the guys car not actually taking up the pump? Most gas pumps don't reach that far from my experience.

That said, the dude could have totally been inside paying for gas. It's weird, but some places give cash discounts. (I think that is stupid because I hate working with cash)

OP: (I open my door and pull out my Ka-bar Game Hook Knife) "Are we f*cking done now"

Me: You better put that knife away son before I fuck you with it.

OP: (immediately puts knife away.....and races home before losing erection to jack off about how he almost got raped with his own knife)

Did Alkemyst make a second account?

Only read the op, but you are an idiot for not explaining to him that you paid and didn't just pump the gas he paid for. That was obviously, the "shit" he thought you were jacking and NOT the pump.

In all situations that I've seen where people pay inside, they leave the car in front of the pump. He wasn't in front of the pump, so it's fairly safe to assume that he's possibly just an idiot that can't park. 😛

I bet it actually happened like this.

OP Was pumping gas, then a black guy comes up to him to ask him for directions.

OP goes "Kyeeaaah!!" with his knife and teh black guy is like "WtF??"

then OP speeds off in his toyota highlander

JUST KIDDING! 😉

OP I think you just ran into an asshole

Uneducated people don't understand how to confront situations, or how to weigh actions and consequences. This guy definitely was a high school drop out. In his mind, you "disrespek" him. Uneducated folk have a very hard time even dealing with the minutiae of life.

To me it sounds like the OP is in the wrong here, at least part of the blame. What I don't like is, if the guy was arguing with you, don't be a pussy and go get a weapon then start talking shit. Even if the guy was in the wrong he should've fucked your ass up anyway just by you doing that. Sounds like to me he was venting and you go get a weapon. Don't try to come off like you are taking the high road, you sound just as sleazy as the dude who was arguing with you.

To clarify, I did mention that I swiped my card and begin pumping. Forgive my accidental omission.

He was still aggressive afterwards.

In regards to his parking, this is a "hood" station where people just show up to buy lottery tickets, cigarettes, condoms and purple drank. I'd say half of the cars there, usually aren't filling up. And when they do, they put a few bucks in and leave.

They park all over the lot in any direction their cars fit. His vehicle wasn't even parked adjacent to the pump. It was out in the open where he would have to pull the hose away from the Main body of the pump, not towards it. When I backed in, my car was in the correct space.

Also, how long is an appropriate amount of time to wait? I waited two mins+ just standing there, looking around. His passenger did see me, said nothing.

I wasn't being a pu$$y. I was attempting to leave, and he followed me around to the drivers' side of the vehicle.

Was this sleazy? : "I'm sorry. I waited for a couple minutes. No one was using it. I figured that you were done already. I'm almost full already."

I haven't had a situation like that before. I would say that by the sounds of things most of the fault lies with the guy who comes out swearing and accusing straight away, it's a great way to escalate any situation. There's just no need for it. However, nor is there a need for the knife unless threatened.

I once had a situation where I was driving out of the local supermarket car park, it was dark and I evidently didn't notice a couple walking across the lane in the car park that I was driving along. I noticed them when they were at something like a 60 degree angle from me and about a metre away (maybe I should have noticed them from a distance, but then they were in my blind spot until the final moment). I stopped sharply because quite frankly it surprised the hell out of me, with a surprised look on my face and put my hand up to say "sorry", and the guy walked up to my car, did a hand V sign right at my window, then walked behind the car. It was my mistake for not noticing them sooner most likely, but they weren't in danger even if I carried on driving at the same speed (which was a low speed considering I was in a car park), but some people seriously have problems in dealing with situations reasonably. I could have understood his reaction if I had wound down the window first and said something like "WTF are you doing there?" or something.

It sounds to me like you cut him in line for gas while he was paying inside, then when he called you out on it you mouthed off on him to rile him up even more and then pulled a knife on him.

Dude you are so full of it. If the guy was really going to do something, why would he wait till you go around to get in your car. You pulled a knife on someone over an argument. Like I said he should have called your bluff and whooped your ass right in the parking lot.

Why? Because someone trying to get into their car is in a very vulnerable position. One shove and they are already down and on the ground for an easy pounding. Following someone around their car, especially after saying what the man said, should be construed as threatening.

But it seems like you already have your opinion and will contort the facts so you can still feel justified in having it.

The guy gave you a "peace" sign after you almost ran over him and his wife, and you call that an overreaction? Uhh...sounds like YOU have problems dealing with situations reasonably.

Feel free to troll another thread. How calm do I have to remain with a man who is verbally abrasive and follows me around the car? I'm a very calm and calculated individual. But I'm not going to take $hit from a guy who wants to bully me over a fuel pump that is already open, after I've already apologized.

You probably would have bought him a tank full of gas if this guy would have jumped in your $hit.

What's a "hand V sign"?

Except that I can't think of a single gas station that lets you pay AFTER you get your gas anymore. So that line of reasoning wouldn't make any sense.

edit: guess this was alredy covered, I should read more before posting

Here are the facts. He was able to know the guy's passenger and everything. More than likely the dude stopped to go inside to pay gas and the OP knew it. The dude was taking to long so he cut in front of him. You see this a lot. Then they got into an argument and superstar here like a twit goes gets a knife. Its people like that, that make it a "bad part of town".
