The report by The Education Trust found that 23 percent of recent high school graduates don't get the minimum score needed on the enlistment test to join any branch of the military. Questions are often basic, such as: "If 2 plus x equals 4, what is the value of x?"

...... In 2009, 26 percent of seniors performed below the 'basic' reading level on the National Assessment of Education Progress.

What? What the heck did they do in schools for 12 years?

"If 2 plus x equals 4, what is the value of x?"

This is hard. I'm thinking the answer is 2 because 4 divided by 2 is 2, but I'm not sure that my reasoning is right. Maybe it's because the square root of 4 is 2. Or is it because 4 minus 2 is 2? There's so many possible answers. :hmm:

The younger generations ( born after the late 70's ) are retarded and lazy.

Not all but most. It is bad when you can't even be accepted into the Army as cannon fodder.

I bet you were born in the late 70's. That, or your (obviously intelligent) children were.

Clearly an entire generation is so much worse than every prior one in almost every way ever.

I'm in recruiting right now for the Army.

Less than 10% of the people who are interested are qualified to serve.

No kidding. From the article:

Recruits must score at least a 31 out of 99 on the first stage of the three-hour test to get into the Army. The Marines, Air Force, Navy and Coast Guard recruits need higher scores.

I know a couple of Tech Sgts currently serving who can't read a map. HTF do you get to be a Sargent without being able to read a map?

I'm not sure if I would want to drive an integer car. :(
An integral car would work a lot better.

"Cannon fodder" isn't an MOS.

Sure it is Cannon Fodder = Infantry. :)

Don't take this personally. We all know that if you cannot qualify for the Navy, Air Force, Marines, or Coast Guard you can still get into the Army.

The military exam results are also worrisome because the test is given to a limited pool of people: Pentagon data shows that 75 percent of those aged 17 to 24 don't even qualify to take the test because they are physically unfit, have a criminal record or didn't graduate high school.

So about 80% of kids 17-24 are too fat and/or stupid to serve in the Army, even a larger percentage if you figure in the other branches?

The United States is doomed. :(
