NBA trade scenario: Lebron for Kobe?

Stark

so if Lebron really is unhappy with Cleveland and everyone in LA is sick of Kobe, would it be an even trade?

lebron for kobe won't work salarywise. even salary deal i checked out:
Cleveland trades:
SF LeBron James (27.1 ppg, 7.3 rpg, 7.1 apg in 42.2 minutes)
C Zydrunas Ilgauskas (17.0 ppg, 8.7 rpg, 1.3 apg in 33.6 minutes)
Cleveland receives:
C Chris Mihm (9.8 ppg, 6.7 rpg, 0.7 apg in 24.9 minutes)
SG Kobe Bryant (27.4 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 6.1 apg in 40.8 minutes)
Change in team outlook: -6.9 ppg, -3.3 rpg, and -1.6 apg.

L.A. Lakers trades:
C Chris Mihm (9.8 ppg, 6.7 rpg, 0.7 apg in 24.9 minutes)
SG Kobe Bryant (27.4 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 6.1 apg in 40.8 minutes)
L.A. Lakers receives:
SF LeBron James (27.1 ppg, 7.3 rpg, 7.1 apg in 42.2 minutes)
C Zydrunas Ilgauskas (17.0 ppg, 8.7 rpg, 1.3 apg in 33.6 minutes)
Change in team outlook: +6.9 ppg, +3.3 rpg, and +1.6 apg.

TRADE ACCEPTED

Due to Cleveland and L.A. Lakers being over the cap, the 15% trade rule is invoked. Cleveland and L.A. Lakers had to be no more than 115% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

hahahaha....

i would seriously hunt down and kill the cavs owner and GM if they tried to pull this deal off.

honestly i would.

Lebron = Rookie contract
Kobe = Max contract

There is no way that Lebron will be traded during the next two years. Cleveland would take back FAR less than it gave up, and not even the new owner is that dumb (He's close, though). A more likely scenario is that after his rookie contract is up, he walks away a free agent, able to sign with any team.

proof i'm a better GM than Kobe/Buss

L.A. Lakers trades: SG Kobe Bryant (27.4 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 6.1 apg in 40.8 minutes)
C Brian Grant (3.8 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 0.5 apg in 16.5 minutes)
PF Lamar Odom (15.2 ppg, 10.2 rpg, 3.7 apg in 36.3 minutes)
SF Caron Butler (15.5 ppg, 5.8 rpg, 1.9 apg in 35.7 minutes)
L.A. Lakers receives: PG Eric Snow (3.9 ppg, 1.9 rpg, 3.8 apg in 22.2 minutes)
SF LeBron James (27.1 ppg, 7.3 rpg, 7.1 apg in 42.2 minutes)
C Shaquille O'Neal (22.9 ppg, 10.4 rpg, 2.7 apg in 34.1 minutes)
Change in team outlook: -8.0 ppg, -6.2 rpg, and +1.4 apg.

Cleveland trades: C Zydrunas Ilgauskas (17.0 ppg, 8.7 rpg, 1.3 apg in 33.6 minutes)
PG Eric Snow (3.9 ppg, 1.9 rpg, 3.8 apg in 22.2 minutes)
SF LeBron James (27.1 ppg, 7.3 rpg, 7.1 apg in 42.2 minutes)
Cleveland receives: SG Kobe Bryant (27.4 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 6.1 apg in 40.8 minutes)
Change in team outlook: -20.6 ppg, -11.9 rpg, and -6.1 apg.

Miami trades: C Shaquille O'Neal (22.9 ppg, 10.4 rpg, 2.7 apg in 34.1 minutes)
Miami receives: C Brian Grant (3.8 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 0.5 apg in 16.5 minutes)
PF Lamar Odom (15.2 ppg, 10.2 rpg, 3.7 apg in 36.3 minutes)
SF Caron Butler (15.5 ppg, 5.8 rpg, 1.9 apg in 35.7 minutes)
Change in team outlook: +11.6 ppg, +9.4 rpg, and +3.4 apg.

I don't see why any other NBA team will want Kobe now, after he demonstrated again and again that he's not a teamplayer

I think Z might disagree with your GM skills, since Cleveland trades him to no one.

well, he is still very young, very talented, very popular, and has a few nba titles to boot. not saying that i'd want the Pistons to trade for him, but i can't imagine there'd be NO interest in trading for Kobe.

i don't know why he'd want to play for NY. the team sucks. i don't buy the "big market" argument, because Lebron James would have no problem getting endorsements playing in Alaska.

its a known fact lebrons nike contract would fatten if he were to play in a big name market than in "alaska".

obviously i was exaggerating....Lebron signed for 90 million straight out of high school, second only to Tiger's $100 million. are you saying he would have gotten more had he been drafted by NY?

maybe it's because he'd like to live in the city?

Lakers would have to give more than just Kobe... LeBron is younger and he will be ALOT better in the next few years.

MIB2?

I'd trade Kobe for LeBron in a second.

LeBron's rookie contract, though, nullifies any possible trade. There's NOBODY nearly of equal value in the salary area Plus Cle. won't let LBJ go if they can avoid it. Will he be unrestricted when his contract ends? (sorry, not up on that sort of detail)
