I think his rebounding gets better and better every year. He's not a dominant presence on the court inside and that may be the reason why he is playing SF instead of PF.Originally posted by: jjsole
Dirk is amazing, especially for a 7footer, altho regardless of his size, he's too weak for his frame. He needs a good weightlifing program so he can quit flailing, particularly on defense. It would also help him to be a much better rebounder.

And puhlease, this game was not won or lost because of the refs. Spurs let this game get away, period. (though the Mavs made a great comeback).

Think about what you're saying. You think that Dirk chose the most "classless/dirty" option when he drove in like that. I think that's totally wrong.
Think about what would happen if he took a jumper, or a 3pt shot and it didn't go in. Well, now you'll have like 3 or 4 guys jumping up for the rebound WHILE Rose's feet/legs were sticking out under the basket. Which one would you think would be more dangerous? Yeah the jumper would be. You could have 4 guys ladning on his legs/ankles/feet and even more players would be at risk.
What Dirk did was the easiest way to minimize any more damage. He went in and was out in no time. Either the ball would have gone in w/ an easy layup, or he'd get fouled and Rose could be attended to. Either way, it was safer than taking a jumper. And no, calling a TO or runnin' the clock is not a option.
...and FWIW, no one gives a rat's a$$ that you lost respect for Dirk.

I love how you write this long post, heated post about how i'm wrong and a retard, and then in your last line you say that you don't care...that's fitting.
but look, you can talk all day about different scenarios and the such, but it still doesn't negate the fact that Dirk chose either 1.) to use Rose as a shield for an easy layup (leading to my conclusion that he has no balls) or 2.) that he was going right at Rose to hurt him. So look, when I wrote this last night, maybe I didn't mean to use the word dirty. I mean, he's nowhere near Robert Horry on the dirty scale. But rather I meant that he has no balls. It still doesn't change the fact that I lost some respect for him. Sure, maybe someday he'll do something that changes that, but if anything, that play last night sure didn't help. So I don't care if you don't care, but if you really truly don't care like you said you didn't, then don't reply. This is an online forum where I say what I think, not just what you, HonkeyDonk, wants to hear.

I think your reading WAY to much into one act dude. He drove the basket. that's it. he wasn't thinking about what would happen to rose. he didn't know rose was injured. The fact that the spurs made NO move to stop the action was an indication to him that Rose must not have been hurt. Basketball is a very split second game. it's quick and it's fast. there isn't a lot of time to ponder greater issues of life.
Again, WTF were the coaches of the spurs doing. IT was their JOB to watch out for Rose, not nowitzkis.
You are reading WAY too much into one act. If you think this one act defines nowitzki your being very small minded.

I'm really not trying to read too much into this. I already had an opinion about Dirk and this surely didn't help to fix it, but I didn't think all this arguing would come out of it.
