I want the Mavs to win, just because I think they're a more enjoyable team to watch, but I think Spurs are going all the way.

The Mavs have no D, plain and simple. As long as they can contain the Mavs on the perimeter, just toss it to Duncan every time on offense.

Mavs held Duncan down pretty well during the regular season at one point in time.. they can do it. Judging from the last series, they basically seem to have "on" nights and "off" nights. The two teams are tied at 2-2 for their games played against each other during the season, so I'm guessing it'll be a fun series to watch, and definately not a blowout on either end.

If the Mavs have some "on" games like we've seen out of a couple games last series, I think they have a chance. If their offense is off.. they're in trouble, since they have pretty mediocre defense. Tim Duncan *is* manageable by the Mavs though, which has been proven.. but he is a real threat.

GO MAVS!

I'm excited to see how this turns out. As much as I love the Mavs, living in Dallas for the last 13 years and loving em even when they were the worst in the league.. I see the Spurs winning in six.

edit: I'm no sports guru or something, but it looks like the last two wins against the Spurs, the Mavs kept em under 90 points. The two they lost were high scoring games.. I'm guessing this series will be a little dirtier than the Dallas vs. Sac all out scorefest.

We'll see how Dirk and Nash do. I didn't think they were all that hot against the Kings compared to what they've done in the regular season (Dirk in particular). Van Exel stepped up though.

I hope the Mavs win the Western Conference Finals. Both teams are very atheletic so it should be an interesting match-up. The Mavs have more guns around the perimeter but the Spurs have more of an inside presence. Basically the Mavs won't be getting too many offensive rebounds in the series.

It doesn't matter who wins the west, since the Pistons will beat either of them in the finals.:)

The Mavs have held Duncan down before. They just aren't going to be able to do it for a series. Their problem is Bradley and La Frentz play defense well in spurts, but not consistently. The Spurs will only lose if they try to run with the Mavs. But they won't because SA plays good enough defense to make it a half court game. That is why SA will win the series.

Really, the only thing stopping the Mavs from winning a championship is some good interior defense and rebounding. One or two turnovers of the roster should do it. Depending on Dallas offseason, they could win the whole enchilada next year.

finley/bradley arnt exactly what you can call forces in the paint

That might be because Finley plays guard. Not many guards are "forces in the paint". :D

The Mavs have no D, plain and simple. As long as they can contain the Mavs on the perimeter, just toss it to Duncan every time on offense.

The Mavs were ranked right in the middle of the league in defense this year. They have some D, just not enough to beat SA this time around. I still say that a Kings team with Webber would beat SA and advance to the finals. The Kings have the defensive stoutness the Mavs lack, at least this year :p

Technically, they did. I watched the whole 4th quarter - good god they had this huge streak of missed shots. I'm talking layups, shots 10 ft from the basket, etc. They choked. Something like a 6 minute run with no points. Wallace grabbed an @$$load of those misses but if you miss the rebound, well that doesn't help either.

Hoping for a Mavericks versus Nets in the finals. That would be fun to watch.

And making just one of those missed shots would have sent the game to overtime where the Pistons are a perfect 10-0 this year.

Well I'm not saying making one shot would have sent the game to OT, but the outcome could have been very different if one extra shot was made. I really don't know how much that difference it would have made, considering the Nets were up by 7 with 2 points left.

But they were also only up 2 points with 1.9 seconds left

Err I meant Nets up by 7 with 2 minutes left

And yea, technically they could have sent it to OT - that would have been a bad @$$ alley oop had that one guy actually made it in. It would have been nice if he made the 2nd shot too. Oh well

Typical ludicrous WOULDA BEEN COULDA BEEN. you could say the same with the nets too. they missed a lot of shots in the last 5 minutes of the 4th quarter.

Bottom line Detroit didn't choke, Nets TOOK IT FROM THEM in THEIR HOUSE. :)

WOW, that's all that needs to be said. WOW. I didn't realize that Spurs could score so prolifically.
