Looks like Spurs can run with Duncan, Parker, Ginobli, Jefferson, and some center.

If you want to go small, which I'm assuming you would by "run" then your line up would be:

C - Duncan
F - Richardson
F - Ginobili
G - Mason / Hill (Depends on the defense/speed requirements)
G - Parker

The only case you have is Kobe is a better player than Mason, but:

Duncan >> Gasol
Richardson >>>> Bynum
Ginobili >>>>>>>>>>> Ariza
Mason/Hill <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< Kobe
Parker >>>> Fischer

Thats why the Spurs got owned. Manu always gets hurt and Ariza is getting WAY better than he ever was/will be, Duncan is getting old and slow, Bynum is developing.

Their run is done....

Manu is going to be comiong off the bench so save his body like he was before so that'll help but yes, his aggressive play has always put him at high risk. Duncan has NEVER relied on his athletic ability to score or defend.

Excuse me, what? Manu is healed, and if you think Ariza is ever going to be the player Manu is, you have another thing coming. Manu is going to the Hall of Fame, Ariza probably won't even scratch the surface of qualifying. Duncan might be aging, but guess who's the same age as him? Yah, Kobe.

I understand your team just won and all, but it's not going to be the same as it was this year.

Edit: Oops, looks like Pau is only 29, my bad ... but Fischer is up there also. Kobe is 31 at the start of the season, Duncan just turned 33.

Manu is not going to the hall of fame. How do you suppose he is all of a sudden magically "healed"? He has had ankle problems for as long as I can remember. All his flopping and throwing his body on the line has finally caught up with him. He has put his body thru a TON and you think hes 100% healthy at age 31 ? Manu hasn't played a full season EVER. Highest he ever got was 77 games. He is on the wrong side of 30 and will only get worse.

I dont expect him to play more than 60 games this year.

Edit: Here are his CAREER numbers
FG: 45%
PTS: 14.7
Assists: 4.1
Turnovers: 2

Are you serious? Those are hall of fame numbers? PUHHHHLEEEASSEEE

I still dont understand why Lakers fans think Bynum is so great. He is only slightly better than Greg Oden, and everyone hates on him. Did anyone see how often he was fouling during the finals? The guy is a clutz and cant control his own body. I dont see him getting any better, either.

They better do more than that if they think they are going to compete with a lineup of Bryant, Odom, Ariza, Fisher, Bynum (assuming Odom and Ariza sign. Ive heard San Antonio might bid for Ariza)

No need to bid for him now that they have Jefferson.

Two totally different players. Ariza hard nosed defensive guy and Jefferson is an offensive guy.

'Cause he's still young with a lot of upside to develop. Plus, he pulls down double double when he's healthy. Oden is just old and slow, the guy looks like he's 40.

Atot basketball knowledge is dissapointing me. Ariza can't carry Manu's sneakers at this point. Manu has been a huge part of several championships in San Antonio. Ariza is a bit player for one. No comparison.

Yea I don't understand how anyone could compare Ariza to Ginobili. Ariza isn't even in the same league.

And Bynum isnt slow? Come on, give me a break. The guy does not know how to control his body AT ALL. Did he even get close to a double double in the playoffs? When hes actually playing quality opponents, he dissapears (and fouls a whole lot). The guy was in foul trouble all the time. And I thought he was healthy for the playoffs? How many excuses are you going to make for the guy?

The only thing going for him is he is young and could have some upside. Ive barely even seen a glimmer of hope on this front however.

For those who think Manu isn't going to the Hall of Fame - let me fix your ignorance. It is the BASKETBALL HoF - not NBA HoF. Thus, Manu's accomplishments outside of the NBA propel him into it.

2001 Lega A (Italy) MVP
2001 Euroleague Final Four MVP
2001 FIBA Americas Championship MVP
2002 All-Euroleague First Team
2002 Italian Cup MVP
2002 Lega A MVP
2002 FIBA World Championship All-Tournament Team
2002?03 NBA All-Rookie Second Team
Olimpia de Oro
(2003, 2004 (shared))
2004 Olympics MVP
2004?05 NBA All-Star
2006 FIBA World Championship All-Tournament Team
2007?08 NBA 6th Man of the Year
2007?08 All-NBA Third Team
2008 35 Greatest Euroleague Players

He is the only player in the history of basketball to have a Euroleague Championship, Olympic Gold AND NBA Championship - hell, he has 3 of those.

What does Ariza have? One good season ...

And as for Manu's health - he has been playing 12 months a year, so the dude is going to be injured. Those are his personal decisions though, and I'm not going to hate on someone for wanting to play for his country.

two words : laker fans (same with Yankees/RedSox/Cubs fans)

Spurs aren't even in the top 5 teams in the NBA anymore.

1. Lakers

2. Orlando

3. Cleveland (Cleveland can move to #2 if they get an inside presence)

4. Denver

5. Houston if they keep Yao

6. Spurs

Would be pretty crazy if Cavs sign Yao. But since everybody knows Lebron will probably ditch after next year, I don't think Yao would wanna move over there.

Seriously, I hope you choke while sucking off Kobe. You CANNOT place the Rockets above the Spurs, they crumble too fast. Adelman is a crappy coach, and his experiments never seem to work out for more than a game or two against a legit coach. The Spurs still have until November to get a legit starting center, and then the only question will be is will be Lakers vs. Spurs.

And that's if the Lakers keep their team intact.

Actually you are right. I messed up. A healthy Boston is above the Spurs as well, dropping them to #7.

Despite what others say, the bucks didn't get raped. In this economy, they couldn't afford Jefferson's huge salary. They made the correct business decision.

ya obviously from business standpoint makes sense. talking strictly basketball sense, it sucks, with the talent being traded not even close. with lotsa other teams trying to cut costs, probably see more deals like this coming up.

Actually, a healthy Spurs is above every team on that list on paper. But hey, I guess you're mad Kobe wouldn't give you the reach around.

Only a bitter Spurs fan would think the Spurs are #1....sad. Very very sad.

🙁

This is a salary dump move for the Bucks. Jefferson's contract goes for 3 more years, but all those other player's contracts are over in 2 years. If they release Bowen back to the spurs and oberto retires as the OP is suggesting, then the bucks save a lot of cap space.

while not an "NBA Fan" the Bucks are my team I guess... That being said with Jefferson gone, now Redd can just chuck it up more like the good ole days.

OCGuy is a such a noob. The spurs were the 3rd seed this year after losing manu. They're gonna have manu back, plus they added jefferson and who know whats still gonna happen until the season tip-off.

Oh yeah and lol at the tool who said ariza was better than manu.
