I think the lottery was a great idea because its reasonably based on statistics. Its a pity it hasn't worked out for the teams that have tried the hardest to take a dive at the end of the season, but over the next 100 years, rest assured, the net outcomes will most likely fit the bell curve appropriately. :)

I also think Jerry West should stfu. Pao Gasol was injured so they lost a lot of games. He fired his [very capable] coach early on when their star was injured (moronic, but probably to trash the season to get Oden or Durant anyways), and it backfired. Boohoo. West may have been a fantastic player, and a fantastic GM, but now he's a fantastic whiner. (and is quitting the Grizzlies as well, so please West, grab a box of tissues and leave already.)

There's no reason the worst team should be guaranteed the top couple picks. There are too many games in a season for a lousy team to be able to purposely dive and try and manipulate the process in order to get the next 'superstar'.

And as for the Celtics...hahaha. As long as Danny Ainge is running the show, they could have a 99.9% chance of getting the top pick and he'll still miss it. :p
