NBA lottery, one of the top 20 reasons why that sport is becoming irrelavant in the US.

Please expand on this statement... 😕

the sport sucks and people are actually beginning to realize that

And that's why attendance is at an alltime high, and professional basketball is rapidly growing and expanding overseas...ok, thanks for the deep analysis folks.

lol...these guys are tools.

And what portion of revenue is ticket sales compared to TV money?

And you want to talk about tools, it's just too bad I guess that the guy used as the NBA logo says that their draft format sucks; he too must be a tool.

But it's all good with me. Keep scheduling games for 10pm and soon there will be more teams outside of the US than in it and we won't have to worry about it taking up time in the sports media.

the 10 pm(est) games are the west coast games...the east coast games are scheduled at 7 p, (est). and yes the lottery system is messed up, but to say that sport is becoming irrevelent because of it is beyond stupid.

And you could add that Nascar Ratings, let alone football, kill it. But before we talked about those sports, weekly cable wrestling shows are getting higher ratings than NBA playoff basketball.

The game is inconsistantly called, marketed for people other than the regularly US joe, and the games are scheduled to air at times where most of the US won't be able to watch.

And look whom has the top 3 picks, 3 teams that should be shut down because their craptastic management has made them below irrelavent.

I would say the main reason I don't watch the NBA is because of the horrible officiating and the way rules are called. Half of the shooting fouls you see are total crap with the shooter either taking an inprobable shot but leaning in to the planted defender to draw contact or the shooter taking a shot after the contact and getting the foul. The game is all about drawing crap calls and flopping these days. Occassionally you will see some good ball though, with action back and forth (not necessarily scoring) and that is when things are exciting.

Pistons got a good pick. They should be able to land a few good players in the first round. And we haven't even unleashed Amir Johnson yet.

That's why I stopped as well, and I used to LOVE the nBA...I still love basketball, but can't take it anymore. The calls during the finals last year where Wade was getting calls on people that were at least 2' away from touching him did it for me. It really started to go downhill during those blazers-lakers series where L.A. would have a 55-19 free throw advantage in games 6 & 7. It's not really 'basketball' anymore, it's this sanitized bleached version of the game for middle class yuppy white america. Hence the dress code, no players from H.S. right to the NBA, and Steve Nash winning the MVP twice in a row when he would've been 5th in voting if he looked like Baron Davis. Honestly though the officiating is what did it for me, it's not even funny any more, it's just frustrating being able to predict which refs will be at a game based on who the nba would like to win. Plus the extended historical ineptitude by the Boston front office ruined my favorite team. I didn't even watch 5 regular season games this year, and have barely watched the playoffs, I think 2 games I saw

heh, paranoid much? Nash won it becuase without him the suns would have been nothing. What fan cares about a dress code? Name more than 3 straight from HS players that are any good.

True, the fouls are getting out of hand, but its not some mass conspiracy against the black man.

Amare Stoudamire, Kobe Bryant, Jermaine O'Neal, Lebron James, Kevin Garnet, Kwame Brown.

ok, I was joking about Kwame Brown 🙂

And the Hawks had a chance at a no-brainer pick and end up with the #3 pick instead. Undoubtedly they will pick up another mediocre power forward now.

Is is any wonder that Atlanta gets a bad rep as not being a good sports town when we've had to deal with the crappy personnel management over the years? Who wants to pay $50 to see this team play? Anybody? Anybody?

Billy Knight might have made some dumb choices but I'm pretty sure he's gonna pick up Conley at #3 (Hawks needing a PG). Better having this pick than no pick at all & giving it to the Suns. Also at #11 they can get a big 7'/7'2 C in Hibbert, Splitter, or Hawes.

I had hoped to have some of the top two talent at least land on the East coast, as the West is so powerful that the top six teams in the West have better records than the #1 team on the East. The Heat winning last year was the correctional aberration that statistically comes along every so often, but other than Detroit I just don't see the quality of basketball from the East teams. Having Oden and Durant would at least make some of the games watchable, but as has been mentioned already, the Celtics are officially cursed.

Len Bias, Reggie Lewis, Dennis Johnson ... its a wonder we haven't added Kevin McHale to the list, as I'd have thought Sprewell would have choked him to death by now.

Oh snap, I guess tanking the season didn't work well for the Grizzlies and Celtics.
Sonics getting Durant! Hasta la vista Rashard Lewis.

lol. Nice episode of PTI today, or as I like to call it trashing the NBA for many of the same reasons I've said.

I think the lottery is a stupid idea.

I hate the lottery. I much prefer the NFL's "worst record, first pick" system.

Still, I live in Portland. So, just for this year, I think the lottery system is kinda nice.

Particularly in a game where there is only 2 rounds of picks and so many of them spent on underage guys hoping they could play in 3+ years.

Perhaps this will give the trailblazers an opportunity to cycle off another criminal or two. NBA stars have such an opportunity to be a good role model for the youth of today. A simple altruistic act goes miles to bolden their image, instead, I'm sure Oden will be sportin the 24" spinners on his 2008 suburban in no time.
