Who looks stupid now?

“I want to apologize to the Navy for my recent comments to the crew of the TR," Modly said in the statement issued late Monday. "Let me be clear, I do not think Captain Brett Crozier is naive nor stupid. I think, and always believed him to be the opposite."

"We pick our carrier commanding officers with great care," he said. "Captain Crozier is smart and passionate. I believe, precisely because he is not naive and stupid, that he sent his alarming email with the intention of getting it into the public domain in an effort to draw public attention to the situation on his ship. I apologize for any confusion this choice of words may have caused."

"I also want to apologize directly to Captain Crozier, his family, and the entire crew of the Theodore Roosevelt for any pain my remarks may have caused," he added. "They, and the entire Navy, have my full commitment that I will continue to help get the TR back to full health and back to sea where we can move forward beyond this unfortunate situation.”

He left out the needed part where he resigns and is replaced by someone who actually respects sailors.

The audio where you can hear the crew heckling him is extraordinary to me. Sure, sometimes when the captain addressed the crew over the 1MC and so we were in the relative privacy of workspaces you would hear people say derogatory things at some shit my captain said but nothing like the total contempt in what you can hear the crew directing here, and at the secretary of the navy no less.

Donnie says he may step in and do something about this and hopefully he does. Normally Presidents should allow the proper operation of branches to go more or less about their business but as Trump can't pick proper people to man top spots then that would be the next best thing.

Real leaders surround themselves with independent people more competent than themselves in their respective roles, authoritarians surround themselves with ass-lickers picked for not for their competence, but their salad tossing ability. That's why real leaders can trust their subordinates to do the right thing, but authoritarians know who they can't, and always have to intervene.

Recall that Acting Secretary Modley is in that job because the prior Navy Secretary resigned a few months ago in protest over Trump's meddling in the Navy Seal war crimes cases.

Modley's take-away to that apparently was: do whatever it takes to make Trump happy.

Asshole.

Trump is going to step in and make it better? This is the President that constantly says nothing in his administration happens without him knowing.

Trump's knee-jerk-pay-back reflex getting him in deep kim chee all over again. And the walk-back gets him a face full of that delicious spicy pickled veggie with him having to eat his way out of it as his only recourse.

Too bad this fuckup of his will simply trigger another kind of knee-jerk reaction, this time by his supporters: defending him no matter how bad it makes him and them look.

just keep doubling down on the stupidity...

Who would have thought that in speaking to four thousand young men and women, a few of them, whom supported the captains actions just might have been carrying some sort of device that could record sound and anonymously transmit that recording on the Internet. Modley could never have accounted for such a remarkable thing. World of wonders, isn't it?

Obviously... I don't think Trump is happy about that scolding to the ship's crew getting loose on the internet.

Now Modley will learn.... when you do what Trump wanted and it ends up being a mistake, you take the blame.

Only reason why this fuckstain hasn't been impeached.

Trump stooge Modly gets in trouble for acting like Trump and gets in trouble for it. Espr warned the military don't surprise Trump with this coronavirus stuff. HE didn't care if soldiers lives were in danger.

He was just imitating Trump. It's the sincerest form of flattery.

Wow man, I'd be absolutely terrified to be in the military right now. Not that I think any recent president has had much regard for human life, but this guys is next-level. Like, could not care less if you lived or died.
