yah we really sitting around doing nothing...
tell that to the 35k deployed sailors...

Holy crap...

So I just found out that sailors partying on a big boat anywhere east of Italy not only get paid the same combat pay that I do, they get more because they get sea pay too and it's all tax deductible...and they get about a week of shore leave every month while on one of these "combat" deployments ...

Yeah, sailors totally have it rough :frown:

And so does that make you feel more or less stupid?

Funny about these Army guys crying about needing the Navy guys to help with base duties. Navy personel is mainly to man and support Naval vessels. Don't hear about Navy guys crying that the ground pounders that ride on the ships should come down to the engine rooms and help with equipment down there.

Much stupider...

I could have been partying on a big boat, doing less dangerous work, getting paid more, and telling army guys that they've never served their country

Why would a current or former Navy guy tell army guys they never served their country?

the Army exceeded their retention goals even though their recruiting goal was short I believe.. resulting in no shortage of manpower
That is because there is stop loss in place for just about every MOS...those that want to get out are not able to, even if they have hit the end of their service commitments.
