Well yeah, the whole silly thing is religious in origin, because it's meant to honor the day when the infinitely powerful deity needed to rest after overexerting himself and his infinite stores of power and knowledge.:awe:The entire premise of this list is silly.
Avoid technology? Ok, if so you can cross off #2, #6, #7, #8 and possibly others

Oh, it all sounds so romantic. Returning to a softer, gentler time when life was so simple that we could laugh at the foibles of human invention and breathe in deeply the natural essence of earthly delight.
The reality is: Technology has us by the balls. If you think that your government is becoming too oppressive and you entertain the idea that maybe the people could rise up and smash the overlords with a revolution...

Just another part of humanity's long obsession with sacrifice as a means of appeasing some mythical force.Could I? Yes. Would I want to? No.
Why people do this is beyond me. Must be yet another one of those fads meant to make people feel better about themselves without actually making any sort of impact.
