The USA is made up of immigrants. It sickens me that we want to mess with people that only want to come here to work hard and improve their lives. Isn't that what this country is really all about? The part of this issue that no one addresses is one you hit on a minute ago. They will live 4 families to a house. At times this can be 12-16 people. I know because some rented my dad's rent house quite a while back. Now do the math. There can be 8 kids living in the same house all going to school on OUR tax dollars becuase they put so many people in one dwelling that the property tax collected for that property doesn't even begin to cover the costs and the property most of these people live in is so crappy that the property tax isn't much to begin with.
Don't even get me started on them going to the hospital for free healthcare yet I lose my house if I don't pay my medical bills.
Well not currently but if the continuing trend of illegal immigration and huge growth in Asia continues it will happen.
I'm talking on a long term scale 50-100 years. Thats the way Karma works in a global manner. At least I believe so.

I've lived in bad neighborhoods and worked in a position where I had 30 Mexicans(not all legal) working for me and I have nothing but respect for hard-working Mexicans. I like Mexican people... they have a very honest work ethic and don't want to mess with others... how hard is that to hate?

I understand that....believe me. I am only saying that I don't care if they are illegal or not as long as they assimilate quickly. There are methods to require this and if they were imposed would drastically cut down on illegals. I want them documented and quickly assimilated. I want them paying taxes. What about my statements do you find fvcked up. I have respect for "illegals" and don't deny they are hard working. I'm actually even guilty of hiring them. I think I've posted before about that.
Just to go over my statements:
Do you deny that an influx of people that will work at just about any wage devalues prevailing wage?
Do you deny this increases the wage gap?
Do you deny that the traditional housing arrangements are not the standard of illegals whether low wages forces this on them or they do it to be able to provide low cost labor?
Do you deny that lowered Suburbans are a favorite among illegals or that there kids like to identify themselves with gangs such as the 13s and where the appropriate clothing?
Do you deny that immigrants whether legal or illegal are using their native tongue while at home more than ever before?
Do you deny that the welfare office here seeks out illegals to give money away to? Mind you they all have SS#s. Not that that seems to matter.
Lastly my daughter is in the gifted program and has already skipped one grade and is only in the second and looks to be on schedule to skip a few more although I don't know if I will let that happen (after my next statement this may not seem like much of an achievement). Over 40% of her kinergarten class could not speak English at all. You don't think this has an effect on the rate of learning overall? They didn't decide to split them into two classes until the middle of the 1st grade and that was due to parents complaints. It was funny at the PTA meeting that some people were against the idea because it wouldn't be fair. Fair to whom?

Seriously, we need to organize GTFO rallies around the country. I'm so sick and tired of these illegal people demanding 'rights'. How about, the only right you have unless you are here legally is the right to get the hell out. Sure, as a country we need workers (unemployment is very low), but we also need to maintain a standard of living, and we need to have a secure border so we can keep an eye on who is coming in.

The REAL reason why those issues exist, is because we have a gigantic underground economy, not because the people are Latinos. The solution is to move people out of the underground economy, which is a net positive for the economy, our security, and tax revenues.

I am interested in discussing REALITY. Not rhetoric.
If you are referring to stopping border crossings, we have 150,000 troops in Iraq, is that number keeping the borders of Iraq secure ? Obviously not.
So if you were going to secure the border with Mexico with military force, you would need at least that many troops, and unless you have a realistic proposal for reducing the other functions the military already does, then that would be 150,000 additional troops.
That would cost, conservatively, $15 billion a year. And that doesn't include the fence, or airplanes, or vehicles.
Also, that would do nothing about the 12 million that are already here. Which is the main issue of contention in the current debate, not the border security. Both sides of the issue support increasing border security.
Unless you are advocating using the standing army to round up the 12 million. First of all, it would be impossible, but to even try it would mean doing away completely with our system of government, no more democracy or constitution, only a totalitarian society could even attempt to do what you are suggesting.
It was agreed long ago that the primary function of a standing army is to defend the country from invasion. To be involved in deportation and border security naturally follows. These people are not protected by any of our laws unless we grant them amnesty, so no erosion of our government is necessary.
I am talking about practicality. If you are going to try to identify, find, and prosecute with fair trials, and then huamnely house and transport back to their country of origin,
12,000,000 people, how do you propose doing so ?
Just take identify. You can't question someone's citizenship just based on what they look like. You have to have probable cause to think they might not be a citizen. To establish probable cause, you have to have investigations.
To get some idea what it would cost, look at what we spend now, on immigration and border security, and how many people are actually deported. I would guess we spend several billions now, and deport/intercept a few thousand people. Ratchet that up to 12 million people and i wouldn't be surprised if it cost $100 billion to do so.
What about the children born in this country ? They are just as much USA citizens as you or I, if we deport their parents, it will be our obligation to raise them.
And then there is the net positive effect all of the work done by these people has on our economy. If there wasn't a positive effect, they wouldn't be here, this is just a fact of economics. If all 12 million were removed by magic, we would have a smaller, less productive economy, we would accelerate the rate at which we are becoming less competitive in the world.
When I first entered school, I too couldn't speak in English. We only spoke Spanish in my home. The teacher at school told my mom to stop speaking to me in Spanish and only English. My mom ignored her, and because of that I am now bilingual, and have way better job opportunities than monolingual people.
If anything, it is an asset to this country to have people that speak more than one language. How ignorant do we look in comparison to other countries, like Europe or India, where speaking two languages is nothing. Americans look ignorant because they can only speak one language.
There's several things we could do in terms of fixing the problem. It doesn't have to be, and couldn't be, all at once. I would suggest closing the border with the aid of our fine military and imposing strict penalties on companies that hire illegals. I would also suggest that if someone can't provide evidence as to their citizenship (e.g. unique social security number, license, birth certificate, etc.) then they should be deported to their country of origin.
