15, but that list seems a little silly to me. "Autumn in New England" is a time, not a place, and New England is too large to be among the most "beautiful places." Parts of it aren't beautiful at all. Ditto with entries like "New York," and "Washington, DC."

Special issue of National Geographic has been on the newsstands lately. Here's the list, how many have you visited? I'm at 21 myself. .

07. Olympic Peninsula National Park, WA USA
29. Crater Lake, OR USA
78. Badlands National Park, SD USA
93. Oregon Lava Fields, OR USA
100. The Praries, Midwest USA

Been to these. Don't know how beautiful the prairies are. I'd think NG could have come up with a more complete list.

NYC and Washington DC are two of the most beatiful places? Interesting/cool place, yes. Most beautiful? Nope IMO. <scratching head>

this.

NYC is crowded, filthy and polluted. An iconic city, but not beautiful.

I've never been to Washington DC but isn't that place mostly a ghetto

They are probably talking about the portion that most think of when they think of DC(foggy bottom, capital area, national parks/monuments etc)

Really, 26 of the listed places are in the US? I mean sure we got some neat stuff here and a large land area, but more than a quarter of the most beautiful places are in the US? That's a bit hard to swallow.

Well we do have one of the best national parks systems in the world with more protected land that anywhere else.

World is an awfully big place. I could probably think of a 100 places just driving down to Seward from Anchorage. I wonder how they went about choosing the 100 for this list.

I've only seen 5, but the Midwest Prairies....really? I'm glad Isle Royale NP isn't on the list, more peace and quiet for me.

The key word is "National Geographic", obviously their choices will be biased in favor of USA.
