Are you thinking Rainbow Skink?

Both the 5-lined and Western Skinks have the bright blue tails. The picture isn't a 5-line though.

chaotic got what i was looking for.

these get blue tails as they get older, and are actually born with brown tails.

wester blue tailed skink. i'll give everyone else that came close 5 points though, because i can see the confusion.. i'll try and not pick confusing animals now

Actually I'd give it to kgraeme. After looking closer I think it's a western and that's what he guessed.
