spoonful of peanutbutter for the hickups

ironically, my first post in this thread was on procrastination and that still reigns true haha.

Old model trains versus the new digital ones that cost more and are more problematic.

Didn't know they had digital trains. WTF. :disgust: I loved the little choo choo I had as a kid. Simple as hell, and I liked the smell of ozone, the sparks, the sound. Simple oval track and no scenery, nothing. You could put these little capsules in and it would put out smoke. :)

Dunno about that. "Santa" managed to hook up my first Lionel HO guage to the AC side of the transformer and burn it out before I had a chance to wake up and play with it. :) The real irony was at that time he was working as an electronics tech on the Minuteman project for Melpar.

I've got a Krupp's coffee grinder that I use every day that's 10 years old. I've got knives older than most of the posters here that are used daily.

Network/communications equipment.

That or a netware 3.12 server that's been sitting in the closet for 15 years.

I'd imagine that this only applies to good networking equipment... I've had quite a few Linksys/Netgear/DLink boxes fail on me over the years.

I've had several hammers break while using them. However, I've never had a pipe-wrench fail to work properly.

Well, this thread has been bumped. Before I realized it was an old thread, I thought of something I now own that's 5 decades old. I turn the key, I push the ignition button, and it fires up as fast as anyone's car. But, I don't want to jinx myself.

In the past two years, I have broken 2 pipe wrenches; used a pole for extra leverage & bent them.

My IBM Model M keyboards have worked every time and continue to work through the ages.

My Zippo, as long as it has flint, wick, and butane, it works no matter what, rain, wind, snow, just dropped in a lake and still wet, etc...

My Dewalt drill works as long as it's plugged in.

My grandfather's old lawn mower. Fixed a gas leak (wasn't causing it not to work so much as leaking gasoline all over the place), and the thing always starts on the first pull... 20ish year old Toro 3.5hp mower. I got it from my grandma a couple of years ago since I had no mower when I bought my house.

I finally thought of something... my SnapOn screwdriver set. Those things are built like tanks, and they ALWAYS work.

My Lenovo ThinkPad is pretty damn rock solid, too.

my 15 year old rear projection TV it keeps threatening to die but it just won't and I can't bring my self to replace it. Plus its massive girth hides the cable disaster that lurks behind it. If I get an LCD I'll have to organize.

Calphalon cook set, still cooks as good as day 1.

wusthof knives are still slicing and dicing

iphone is still rock solid ... granted, I do get a new one every year.

Not so fast. You are young, dumb, and full of *** now, but I would throw in a few modifiers to keep this statement true until the day you die:

My penis and Viagra and/or Cialis.

I don't know...I'm 43 and short of whiskey dick mine has never failed to work (and even then I could still get it up).

You should replace it. LCD TVs just blow away those old RPTVs in ever respect.
