Name some historic figures you learned about in grade school

I remember Harriet Tubman and the underground railroad more than anything else. Hell..I never heard of Paul Revere till 5th grade. That is sad.
 
When I was a kid books about sports figures were what I read from the library. They were all the same - kid wants to become a (whatever sport) player, kid has some kind of obstacle, illness, disapproving parents, etc, kid overcomes obstacle and becomes famous sports hero.

I wonder what sports figure books are like these days 😀 .

I'm not sure what your going for with this comment. Isn't there a lot of black people who have given large contributions? Or they made contributions despite discrimination and such. MLK and George Washington Carver was cool to me when I learned about them 🙂
