Name covers you thoughts were originals

This is a rise against old fart music snobs. I know there are shitty ass and atrocious covers, but there are also amazing ones that you thought were original and you like it better.

With a Little Help from My Friends - Joe Cocker (The Beatles original, also The Wonder Years' theme). Once I realized The Beatles was the original and heard it, I was quite disappointed. Joe Cocker's you can hear the emotion and feel the melancholy and the chorus is accompanied by a gospel choir. That is bad ass. The original sounds stupid - too even tempo, no emotions in words, etc...

Can't really think of others for now, just wanted to get this off my chest.

[edit] oh did I also mention how much I love the show? The best in my opinion... nostalgia + relating = win.

well, i didnt think this was his original, but i like the hendrix version of all along the watchtower. The Aerosmith version of come together is a bit more rockin' too.

don't tell my girlfriend, she'd stab me repeatedly for admitting to this..

A Perfect Circle - People are People

ill stab you for admiting you listen to that POS album

Take on Me, covered by Capnjazz

I also think Ann Beretta's cover of Surrender is on par with Cheap Trick's original.

Manfred Mann -
Mighty Quinn (a Bob Dylan cover)
Never knew that was a cover for a long time & don't think I've ever heard Dylan's version

Manfred Mann's Earth Band -
Blinded by the Light (a Bruce Springsteen cover)
Spirit in the Night (a Bruce Springsteen cover)
never knew these were both cover for a long time too & both are better the the originals

Jimi Hendrix -
Hey Joe
Again, thought it was his song for along time. As far as i know i've never heard an ealier version

Orgy's Blue Monday is better than the original too.

blasphemy!

but i do like the orgy version.

i was once told that anthrax version of anarchy USA was original. that was a fun night. my kids hear the disney remakes of a lot of songs and ask me if ive ever heard them. i just laff and tell them who sang it first... they rarely believe me until it goes to youtoob for proof

My friend thought that Johnny Cash's cover of "Personal Jesus" was the original one for awhile. I was finally able to convince him that Depeche Mode did it first and did it the best!
