Autonomous vehicles are now a reality. Their actual implementation will take much longer of course. I recall a professor from one of my engineering classes telling the class about a test run of such a vehicle on a 2 mile stretch of a regular highway. It was a class in fuzzy logic and controls.

What would I like to see?
Faster than light travel for the masses. Heck, any transportation tech that makes it possible to visit one of our nearby stars within our lifetime.
Space travel, for the masses.
A smart programming language that is able to take plain english, see intent, and create software that is faster and better optimized than current hardware.
Asycronous processing everywhere and a way to feasibly design async hardware.
A perfect lossless compression scheme that can maximally compress anything.
A lossy encoder that is more awesome than what we have now.
The ability to grow any human organ. (heart, lungs, liver) and the ability to actually repair brain damage.
The ability to transfer information to and from computers and individuals directly.
The ability to create any sort of matter through an energy conversion thingy.
Fusion power for the masses
Something better than fusion power if it exists
a Dyson sphere
Pretty much any tech out of star trek
A time machine
soylent green

Proper GPS navigation systems that will finally prevent stories such as:

"My GPS told me to make a right turn, and I took a right turn at THAT moment, and I ended up smashing into a construction site. I hate GPS navigation!"

Simple. Bolt the GPS to a wall. You are here. You are still here. Don't move.

I want a real life spam filter. So I never have to see, hear or read about anything related to pop music (Beiber, Gaga) any "reality show" and any celebrity "news".
