Return to Castle Wolfenstein.
Nuff said.
I am thinking the OP did not get the response he was looking for.
As for me:
Mission based:
Far Cry
Crysis
Serious Sam 1st and 2nd
Duke 3D
Red Faction
Some of the MoH's, like Pacific Assault
Half Life 1
Half Life 2
Online:
BF1942
Counter Strike and CS Source
Crap, forget it. Too tired to go on.
i just realized your thread title had a typo
CounterStrike hands down. I can pick it up again today and there will be tons of hackers
Fixed for ya.
Day of Defeat was great!
I use to admin at the Kustom Kettle, the one that survived. Tiger was one of my fav maps, and Bleakhill
So what, in your humble opinion rival CoD for fun, simplicity and playability in a LAN/on-line environment?
... and why?
UT2k4 is one of those games that never gets uninstalled for me.Great, now I'm reinstalling UT2k4. Thanks, guys.

COD United Offensive is still my all time favorite WW2 FPS multiplayer.
It was the most complete WW2 experiance to date....sad that they haven't topped that (let's face it World at War wasnt' even close).
Noticed that COD series in general suffers from poor map design/strategy. Original COD maps (and UO) had great strategic spawns/flags.
For example, MW2 Domination flags are SO random. it's like someone took 3 balls, dropped them from the top of the map and marked the flags wherever they ended up.
Also, Domination should have 5 flags not 3......but current day COD map design/size doesn't allow that.
YES ACTIVISION YOU NEED BIGGER MAPS.
