I'll clarify. If there's a majority vote in the House, and a two-thirds vote in the Senate after that, they can. Basically: Trump has to hope he and the Republicans don't piss off too many voters, because if the right mix of Congress turns Democrat, he's out.

And it's important to stress that impeachment doesn't need to happen to neuter Trump. If either portion of Congress gets a Democrat majority, he loses a large amount of power... partisan Republican bills won't pass, of course, but it also makes it much harder for the Republicans to obstruct and distract from investigations.

Thanks for the Civics lesson. I understand how impeachment works. You must not have too much faith in Congress. Your post suggests that his impeachment would be a partisan, party line thing rather than based on facts. You could be right but I hope not. Your second paragraph is much more sensible. Winning elections means power. Dems should be working towards that rather than impeaching the President. From what I've seen from the Trump opposition, they're not putting fear into Republicans that they're going to be voted out of power.

Impeachment would certainly be party-line, unless the evidence/crime was overwhelming and really bad. Team ball reigns in this country among politicians and constituents alike.

That said, as someone opposed to Trump personally, he's welcome to stay provided he doesn't get us all killed (which admittedly is something I worry about.) He and the people he's brought in are doing more to help the Democratic party than anything they are doing. They should indeed concentrate on pushing positive solutions to issues and let him drag the GOP down. I don't have faith that they will stay out of their own way though, the bunch of weenies.

There's enough partisanship right now in Congress that some Republicans would vote nay just because a Dem votes yay. To deny that is to blind yourself to the current truth. Likewise there's some Dems that would vote yay just because it's Trump we're talking about and they've been chomping at the bit to cast him out from the get-go.

Impeachment should be worked toward if it ends up being verifiable that Trump attempted to undermine the democratic process, colluded with our enemy (and yes Russia is an enemy right now), or threatened national security. Impeachment isn't 'democrats win the game', it's one step above riots and a military coup.

That's a big if. I think we can all agree that Trump should be removed if that's the case

If you do, you'll be in the minority. There's a *massive* number of existing Trump supporters that simply will reject the validity of an impeachment, some going as far as to say impeachment should be gotten rid of to prevent 'extremists from having such power' or some such nonsense.

I'll tell you why Trump is teflon.

The right-wing "win at all costs" media.

People like Sean Hannity should be ashamed of how low they have gone.

The real reason for the appearance of Teflon is the absence of anything to stick. The Dimocrats have proclaimed since it was President elect Trump that they have zero intentions of actually doing anything outside of trying to delegitimize and remove the democratically elected President. And you say that people like Hannity should be ashamed??

@OrByte: people like that, and their entire coterie of fluffers and apologists (hi Brandonbullshit...) have no shame. You may as well try and feed cherry pies to a black hole in the hopes that it'll stop being hungry.

I'm sorry to see your only coping mechanism for the harsh world of reality is to levy cheap insults towards others. Too bad you fell in with people that sold you a bill of goods on Hillary and the rest of corrupt piles of crap called Liberals.

Still trying to remember that time you posted something intelligent here.

Maybe you should start by not complaining about name calling then calling those you disagree with piles of crap in the same post.

You'd get better feedback if you'd posted an argument or literally anything other than quibbling over matters of proven fact in the past few months.

It should be quite obvious that Trump could indeed get away with standing in the middle of 5th avenue shooting someone and walk away scot free.
Where's the smoking gun?
Where's the missing 18 minutes of tape?
Where's the John Dean's?
Where's the Sam Evrin's?
And where's the outrage?

All of those Trump supporters still support him. That hasn't changed one iota.
And therein lies their dilemma.....
If Trump were proven to be an all out commie lovin red Russian rooskie in bed with Putin, what would his supporters do?
Join the rooskie bandwagon?
Turn red?
Pledge alliance to Vladimir Vladimirovich Trump?

Before a single one of them would ever consider turning against their proclaimed savior of the American mass, the little guy, the "takers" as Mitt once put it, those Obamacare gay marriage Hillary Clinton haters would most likely raise a vodka in song and dance to their new founded orange haired rooskie.

Aside from the press and maybe one or two congressional republicans, which we all know you can never trust a republican in congress, not one of his supporters nor his republican congressional henchmen have any intention of holding president Donald Vladimirovich Putin accountable in any way.
Oh sure..... they play up a pretty good game of political theatrics to the people, waste our money like some surreal extension of Trump's reality TV show, but does anyone seriously believe all of this will amount to anything?
Just more opportunity for Trump to piss down the neck of the American people while telling us it's raining.
All while the real raping of America will take place behind the closed doors in the darkened rooms adjacent the corridors of this republican controlled government.

More far right henchmen appointed to the Supreme court.
More right wing extremist religious fanatics placed onto lower courts.
More freebies handed to the banks, the wealthy, the ruling class.
And people remain huddled up to their TV and smart phones waiting for that gotcha moment.
That moment where all hell breaks out for the big fat orange rooskie parading around in American flag.
That reality TV gotcha moment which will never come.

So, what will it be?
I pledge allegiance to the to flag?
Or....
I pledge allegiance to the ole hammer and sickle?

I understand why you had to throw such a McCarthyesque temper tantrum, but appreciate that you did so to come to terms with the terrifying fact that Trump will suffer zero consequences from Mueller's investigation, and will probably get a second term because of it.

I do wonder if Trump can actually last that long sitting "under a cloud". I can imagine him going through a psychotic breakdown in front of everyone sometime before Halloween.

Trumpin Pumpkin ... damn thats brilliant. I too see him having some sort of breakdown/mental as a real chance before impeachment.. if the dude is lucky he will get impeached, it will problary save his life.

The truth is the Democrats want Trump to be unpopular, but not go anywhere until 2020, which is census year.

Isn't that almost identical to what McConnell actually came out and said about Obama? They didn't even try to hide it. You conservatives sure seem to have extreme memory loss.
