Nobody on either side outside the actual investigation knows jack shit. Alright, that's one thing we know...

The hope has to be that the truth wins out. That there isn't manufactured information and evidence from any side that throws things off. That anyone in the government doesn't try to hamper the investigation or suppress the results. That Meuller can be impartial and is willing to overturn whatever rocks he needs to.

You all can argue about it until the cows come home but chances are we don't even have a clue what is really happening right now behind closed doors.

In no way, shape, or form is the above statement true based on Comey's testimony. If anything, Comey's testimony did more than all reports prior to lend credence to the story. Any one of his "I can't speak to that in open session" answers should have been an indicator. Especially ones regarding Sessions, the Steele Dossier, and the Russian bank.

One fact is sure true (and is a huge benefit of having a monolithic, lumbering government), the US Govt will grind up anyone that gets caught in the gears, anyone. Enough fabric is caught at this point that I don't see someone slipping out if this ends up being legitimate.

If this was still under investigation Comey would have answered this like he did other subjects and say that he can't comment on it. But he didn't. In fact he went on the record to say that the NY Times article was false.

Negative. He already stated in previous appearances that he's been cleared of that "guideline" by the DoJ and can confirm. For fucks sake, there's been a special prosecutor for about a month now. But, you're right, there's no investigation. /headdesk

Meanwhile, there is an active investigation into collusion between Russia and members (plural) of the Trump campaign. Active. Comey yesterday indicated that Mueller is investigating obstruction of justice. The president has hired outside legal help, indicating he believes he's at legal risk.

But, I'm sure you're right in what you've shown is a less than complete understanding of any of this situation. Yep. Convinced me. Nothing to see. Move along.

What I've said is that there's no evidence that the Trump campaign colluded with Russians as of today and since this has been investigated for over a yr, if there was something it'd have come out by now.

And since you're involved in the FBI investigation, you know this for a fact, right?

If you're interested in being more accurate, you could state that there's been no concrete, smoking-gun evidence released to the public. Which is kind of true. Even then, it displays a horrible understanding of the overall process and the agencies/parties involved.

But I think we all know that you're not interested.

You'd better hope the Dems don't retake the House in 2018, because that term could be much shorter than you think. And right now, both Trump and the party are hell-bent on antagonizing everyone... it's not a far-fetched idea.

The House can't remove Trump from office. The formula for winning the House is not to spend 2 yrs trying to impeach him. That won't impress voters

I'll clarify. If there's a majority vote in the House, and a two-thirds vote in the Senate after that, they can. Basically: Trump has to hope he and the Republicans don't piss off too many voters, because if the right mix of Congress turns Democrat, he's out.

And it's important to stress that impeachment doesn't need to happen to neuter Trump. If either portion of Congress gets a Democrat majority, he loses a large amount of power... partisan Republican bills won't pass, of course, but it also makes it much harder for the Republicans to obstruct and distract from investigations.
