There's a reason the 20" Cinema display costs what it does.

Actually, from what i hear, the 20" cinema has its own issues as well...

Don't the 2005 and the Cinema display use the exact same panel? I'm fairly sure I read that in the Anandtech article about the two of them.

One must remember they may use the same rank panel but the coatings are definitely different. The Apple clearly has a superior clarity in text. It's so good as a matter of fact people will complain about the pixels in the text.

It looks exactly like mine when there is no input. Lower left and upper right. I can only tell if I turn off my lights, and had no decernable effect when turned on.

I don't see a problem aside from your contrast being set too low and your brightness too high. ;)
They look fine. They're nice monitors.

You don't get contrast control via DVI.

Thanks guys, i just wanted to see what ya'll thought.... Personally, when there is an image on the whole screen it looks BEAUTIFUL! The only time its noticable is in dark movies and/or games (which i rarely play)

Check out the replacement that guy recieved...

LOL - look at the lighting on the wall behind the monitor.

The first image has a WAY longer contrast time, so of course it looks "worse".

Actually, i really doubt its that much longer exposure. Had it been, the screen would look more blue... It may be a longer exposure in the first one, but i would think from the images no more than a fraction of a second faster. Looks like he may have also had a bit more ambient light in the first image as well.

Identical exposure times/lighting conditions would be the only legitimate way to compare photographs.

You certainly can't compare yours to his (which you're trying to do) without knowing that information.

What would you consider to be the breaking point of sending one back?

If the client finds the goods subpar to their satisfaction they should be entitled to making this right. So...

That is fine, he could exchange it and easily get one with far worse light bleeding OR dead or stuck sub or full pixels. Call it unobtrusive russian roulette if you will.

Three dead pixels just popped up in an area right near the center of the screen.... Thought it might be a driver issue, but no luck after restart...

WTF...

Calling dell tomm for a replacement.

I have two 2005FPW's here right now...

First one is a A01 April and it has bleeding like yours in the corners and some dead pixels, Second one is a A01 May which Dell sent to me to replace the first one and it has no bleeding or dead pixels, but the damn Svideo and composite inputs don't work on it, so Dell shipped me a third monitor today. If the inputs worked this monitor would of been perfect *sigh*.

Those mexicans are doing a horrible job putting these things together heh.
