I see no difference between a book like this and cinderella. Both love stories. What's the problem?

one promotes unethical sexual behavior, the other is gay.

seriously: kids don't need left-wing crap about the 'alternative sexuality's' at this age; You should respect that, even though you don't like it, their are others who should have the right not to have their children indoctrinated by the state: left or right.

What left wing crap? Last I heard many gays are republicans...do a google search for log cabin republicans..

I don't care what someone else does with thier "alernative lifestyle" so as as it has no effect on me or does'nt harm me. In fact if I were in HS again I would welcome more gays because it woud lessen compition for every girl I had my eyes on. Bring em on;)

"We have a lot of diversity in our schools," said Elizabeth Miars, Freeman's principal. "What might be inappropriate for one family, in another family is a totally acceptable thing."

Im getting tired of seeing people use 'diversity' as a way of justifying everything.

There is NO excuse available for a 6 year old to be reading that.

If some parents are upset by what books their child may or may not take out of the library, they have 2 choices:
they can go through and read each and every book in the library, or they can prevent their child from stepping foot in a library.

Seems some folks confuse "a mind is a terrible thing to waste" with "a mind is a terrible thing to use" .

1. Reading about gays doesn't turn you gay. Touching a gay doesn't turn you into one
2. Not everyone in NC is as ignorant and backwoods as these people
3. Librarys cater to the openness of ideas, not bonfires

Reading books about sodomy does not turn you into a sodomite, but my kids have no business reading that either

Just beacause people are bothered by this type of book at this age does not make them ignorant nor backwards

librarys often cater to radical left wing agendas and radical objectives, this book CLEARLY carries an agenda.

Join newlyweds King Lee and King Bertie on their journey into the noisy jungle. The kings are greeted by wild animal families, but the royal travelers suspect that something more significant awaits them in the trees. King & King soon discover that there?s no adventure more wonderful than starting a family of their own.

Wow...the right-wing bigots are in an uproar up here!

I disagree, even I (left winger) don't think the book should be there, and the comment by the principal is dumb.

"We have a lot of diversity in our schools," said Elizabeth Miars, Freeman's principal. "What might be inappropriate for one family, in another family is a totally acceptable thing."

So does that mean we can have gay bashing books too? because what might be inappropriate for one family, in another family is a totally acceptable thing.

We have to defend our children from these perverts. Alot of responsible parents have pulled their kids out of public schools and homeschool them.
This allows them to raise their kids free from the gay agenda being forced on their kids. Unfortunately some parents can't afford to do this. That doesn;t mean we have to sit back and accept whatever those homos try to force on our kids.Give them an inch they take a mile. Well theyve gone too far. No more gay rights no more nothing. We have to oppose even homosexuality's very existence to keep this away from our kids. A few smart people in Tennessee realise this.

Your a POS. jacka**.

Anyway people don't pull their children out of the public school systems because of the homosexuals, as it mostly has to do with religious beliefs. Also, what gay agenda are you talking about? So your telling me that public schools are forcing children to believe in that their is only one lifestyle and that's the homosexual lifestyle?

Anyway I'll restate I what I said. Your an ignorant POS idiot who should be banned from these forums. The homosexuals that I know are educated and very very successful. Something your probably not.

Also, thank god I don't live down in Tennessee and I can't wait until the Supreme Court kills the bill.

yeah i've noticed in the chicago area that most gays are rich. bling bling.

You know what the worst part of this is...Now I need to spend money to send the library 5 copies of the book that the parents won't return to the library via Amazon. I wonder if teaching their children stealing is morally acceptable behavior? Obviously they hate America and its Constitution, I mean free speach and all.

Seriously though why is it so wrong for children who are growing up in families with same sex couples (yes they do exist) to read about similar situations?

Go Phillies!!!

I think people are making way to big a deal of this. If you disagree with homosexuality then just teach your children that you should be tolerant of the mentally ill.

Yep hate abounds but it has no place rearing young minds like love does.

"Mommy, last week you explained making babies to me"
"Yes son"
"So how do gay people make babies?"
"Well son, when a man loves another man very much...they meet at a bathhouse..."

Oh boy..that could be a fun one ;)

you don't explain sex to an 8 year old, and you certenly don't put confusing unnatural views of sexuality into an 8 year old's view.

when we say homosexual we're referring to people who engage in sodomy w/ people of the same sex.
