plane, wheel and treadmill.

When you understand why you can replace the wheels of an airplane, but not a cars, you'll understand why the plane takes off. Until then, you'll have to continue to resort to attempts at insults instead of logic and physics.

Garth it doesnt matter how many links you can provide, because if its written by kids like you, its not worth a cent. remember when people thought the world was flat and only 1 said it was round?

But how many links can you provide? Any?

Lol I can go edit Wikipedia if you want. Links are pointless because I bet they all cover the other interpretation of the question.

So the answer is no, then.

What "other" interpretation? There is only 1 coherent interpretation. Also, realize that implicit in your statement is the concession that there is at least 1 interpretation that describes a scenario where the plane takes off.

Tell me what you think the 2 interpretations are. What is the "other" interpretation that none of the links cover?

BTW you still need to respond to my questions about whether or not I have correctly understood your argument. Why won't you respond to that?

Read the thread I have posted many times that there are two interperations to the question.

One treadmill matches ground speed of the plane and it takes off.
Two treadmill matches speed of the plane relative to the treadmill and it doesn't take off. For the last 800 post everyone has been talking about the second because it is the only one worth debating.

Why won't you answer any questions about your age?

It is clear that you are young and immature, and trying to act older by insulting other people.

That or you actually have a mental illness, in which case I am sorry for any insults that you may have taken from me.

As I have already explained, and you did not even ATTEMPT to contest, the 2nd interpretation is incoherent, so it is not a valid interpretation.

Answer my questions regarding my summary of your argument above, please.

It has already been explained to you the difference between ski and wheels. Skies do not require any energy to accelerate like wheels do. For angular acceleration the energy required for linear acceleration is the same given the same mass. But linear acceleration doesn't matter because the plane doesn't move.

Anyone wishing to show the plane can take off or the question is invalid under the assumption that the treadmill matches the speed of the plane relative to the treadmill please just leave out any crappy analogies and write the equations for the interaction between the wheels, treadmill and plane. Then show that the force on the plane via the wheels is bounded anything else is just shows you have no idea what you are talking about.

Just show that and you can prove we are wrong. No need for your trolling.

There is a big difference between wheels and skies. Wheel require force to give them angular acceleration skies do not. So please leave your stupid and wrong analogies at the door.

Yes thats right there is a huge difference. GJ missing the point though. The point of the analogy is that if the wheels mattered you could not get a plane to take off unless you had those wheels. The ability of a plane to take off sans wheels shows they are just there and not used for locomotion.

Want some proof that the plane will move? Do this little experiment.

You will require:
1 Treadmill
1 Rollerblade

The rollerblade is the plane. With the treadmill on, put the rollerblade down holding it where it is so the wheels spin. Do note that any force pulling your hand back is the result of crappy wheels aka friction in the bearings.

Your hand is now the jet engine. Push the blade forward. You can turn the treadmill up as much as you want while pushing it forward.

Can you push it forward? If so, then the plane will fly. If not, you're a wimp and prolly need a weightlifting set instead of a treadmill ;)

Ok in all seriousness, if you can't see why the plane doesn't take off, can we just throw a VERY VERY CAREFUL explanation on a Wiki site and just link to it? IF people say it doesn't take off, QUOTE + paste link.

A wheel spinning by its self does nothing. You need an acceleration to provided a force.

it wouldn't go anywhere. a simple test to prove it would be to take a RC car, hold it in the air with string, and have the wheels spin in any direction. the car won't move because wheels do not push air like a propeller does.

spinning wheels on an airplane don't mean a thing. the planes power comes from the propeller. a propeller is called a propeller because it propells(moves) the plane forward. the wheels don't mean sh!t. they exist to reduce friction on take off and for safety.

Exactly, this isn't even testable without tethering the plane in place because the propellors or engine will make the plane move forward regardless of any treadmill.

No need, frictionless wheels. Next?

Friction isn't the only force.

Acting on the wheels, it is.

Ahhh...so this is where your confusion comes from. Friction is the only force that acts on the plane between the ground and the plane (and no, before you say it, the friction does not act directly on the plane).
