Me think his amp clipped and that did the woofer in.

P.S. What are you doing with so many different subs??? And the second picture, maybe the speaker cable should not be blocking the drivers? Or do those just serve as speaker stand?

That's the z-560 sub with an 8" woofer, very similar to the sub that came with the z-680 set in question.

This was a picture when I was selling my SVS PB10 after I got my SVS 20-39 PC+ and I put the Logitech subwoofer and speakers into my setup just for comparison purposes for threads where people would complain about the size of the Logitech speakers, etc.

Now my subs are a pair of SVS cylinders.

The Logitech speaker was just placed on top of the real speaker, not used in that position except for the couple of tests that I did with it in that position.

Generally speaking, those small systems cannot be pushed safely. They are cheap enough that the safeguards are just cut out to save money. Not necessarily a bad trade-off, you just have to be conscious about it and not crank it past its limits.

Oh I know, just kidding about that before ;)

Throw in the Telarc 1812 SACD or DVD-A and play it at reference level. I had my ears covered with my hands and I was starting to get sick when the cannons hit.

I would try to replace the driver first. Maybe something a little beefier. Dont know what the ohm on that sub is but if its a standard size with standard mounts changing the driver should be easy.

Well I don't have a SACD or DVD-A player. I'm mainly a movie guy vs. music :p

Dang, that's cheap. I just never liked the Onkyo amp sound.

I had a chance to compare Onkyo when I bought my Infinity Interlude speakers at C.C., and I just didn't like the tinny sound they caused the Interludes to sound like, even the top end Onkyo model at that time. The H/K on the other hand, drove the Interludes effortlessly, and the sound from the speakers was superb using it.

I'm using the 120 watt x7 all digital amp H/K DPR 2005. And there simply isn't anything I have seen or heard lately that can compare with it. It does not have HDMI though. But it is very slim profile, and fits in my entertainment center, too.
