I couldn't resist any longer so a week ago I upgraded to staggered 20" rims and Toyo Proxes tires as well as fender flares. Changing to non runflats has been great - a much softer ride and bumps are no longer "thumps" in sport mode. I also didn't realize how aggressive looking these rims were until I finally got them on and saw it in person. I've seen a few others with pics but it is not the same experience. The Toyos are also a sweet design... had to have these over the Michelins.

old 19s
new 1
new 2
the rest

Finally exactly the way I want it. Now to sell the 19s at a huge loss... :brokenheart:

Why not keep the old rims for when you want to sell the car in case you want to keep the 20s? Or do you need to sell them to finance the 20s?

I need to sell them cause they're bulky and take too much space in my garage. I don't have a shed. If I ever sell the car, I'll have no reason to keep these staggered 20s... they're pretty specific...

F: 275/40/20
R: 315/35/20

And I only said huge loss because the 19s are practically new @ 500miles driven on them but will go for only like $1k, when brand new together it's $3k.

Are you going to lower it at all or do you take it off-road?

No I don't intend to lower it. I've seen it done and it really needs very little for a nicer look but I don't think it's worth that effort or cost. These aren't made to go off-road at all... I do have a Rodeo for that (which I've done only a handful of times)... and you get all kinds of permanent creaks and other noises... it's horrible for the car... there's no way I'm doing that to this guy.

$1k wheels, $1k tires. Small price to pay for much more satisfaction if you ask me. Like I said, I couldn't hold back any longer. ;)

What is the width of the stock tires?

18" stock or 19" sport: both 255 width

With these wider tires = more grip, can feel it in higher speed driving.

Wider tires = worse in the snow, ice and rain...

Yes true, but people have already reported back that this setup with the all-seasons are perfectly fine in the snow. They're also mud & snow rated. I had to make sure of that first as I don't want to be swapping tires twice a year (winter set, summer set).

You got staggered??? If you like it then hey, but you probably have money to burn anyways.

Never saw those movies (yes I'm serious) but I know what you're getting at. Aside from gray, it's the best color, especially with the aero kit (must have) imo. But I already have gray.

Looks awesome, mate

I've always been a huge fan of the X5's styling, just looks brutal imho :)

If I was going for a more economical motor, I'd have to have the 3l diesel, however.

The diesel 3-series and X5 are coming in October... that twin-turbo diesel, however, will produce just 5hp more (but a lot more torque) due to US emissions regulations - much worse than the diesels going abroad right now. Also, it costs $4.55/gal of diesel here right now as opposed to $3.69 for gasoline. And 1 other factor... I couldn't wait any longer.

just stay to the right when I am coming up from behind ;)

The X5 is one of the SUV's I really like. They are extremely common here though and always driven like they are ultra lowered minitrucks (at least a half dozen times I have been behind an SUV that fully stopped crossing a entrance dip/ramp to negotiate it. Same ones I come in at 20mph for...my car is about 4-5" off the ground.

old model X5s are definitely very common but I'm surprised I haven't seen this E70 on the road too much and it's been out 2 years now.

I might be the only one to say this, but despite the fact the new one's are nice, the older ones didn't look anywhere near ugly TBH had it been me, that upgrade would have never happened, I just don't see the big difference and for $2k OUCH....but to each his own...so enjoy

I am selling my X5 soon. I have the older one.
no clue what I'm getting, but I def. can't afford no 50k+ new X5. Is yours 3.0? Has the bodykit so I'm thinking 4.8? Reason I said 3.0 is because of the old wheels.

Edit: n/m saw it was a 3.0si

With that kit and the wheels looks like a 4.8

Nice Car. I'm jealous
