We were at a party for my Mom-In-Law a couple weeks ago and he admitted to me that he is gay. We were talking openly with each other and I asked him if the rumors about him were true and he admitted to me that he is, in fact, gay. I'm really fine with it and I told him that. It's kind of funny though, he seemed to think that my wife or I would have a problem with it which is the farthest thing from the truth.
Anyway, we all sat together after the party had broken up and talked and he seemed very relieved to have a couple members of the family know about this and that we still love him.
It's got to be a tough thing to admit to though for some people and I think it's been tough for him to deal with when it comes to family gatherings for quite some time...of course he still hasn't admitted it to his Father (my Father-In-Law) yet. I'm not going to say anything though. It's up to him to let that cat out of the bag when and if he feels the timing is right.
Anyone else have a gay family member? How did you come to find out about it? How did the rest of the family take the news?
