My wife says this is "to nerdy" even for me. What do you guys think?

That doesn't strike me as nerdy much at all really. If anything that reeks of the way that non-nerds have gotten into typically nerdy stuff, but they want it to be premium, leather wrapped/etc/etc because they want to be better than nerds (who tend to be more function over form).

Also, holy carp, that seems...unwieldy. Like can you even use it properly? That seems fine for your son, but as an adult wouldn't give you much room between the two arms/legs? Or is it adjustable or something?

I'd think something with thinner supports that flare out for arm-rests on the side would be better, maybe something where you can adjust the height (so if the supports fit into the space between cushions you can raise it higher). And maybe some mountable points for various things (headphone hanger, And no dedicated cup holder is a mild disappointment. For as bulky as that is, I'd love it to have optional speakers, maybe a headphone DAC. And for it to have its own power outlet (maybe for new USB-C 3.1Gen2 stuff where you can get 100W, so you could charge your laptop/phone/tablet, have speakers/etc (maybe even add a monitor mount or something).

Hell throw some shoulder straps on it so you could stand and take it with you. Put some extendable legs so you can use it while taking a shit.
It's not bad. The three pieces are independent of each other not attached so when you want to get up you just lift the top off and set it to the side. It comes with velcro so you can tach your mouse pad and keyboard in place so when you move the top off to go pee or get a drink ect it doesn't have to stay flat you can move it off to the side and set it vertically. It even has a mouse pocket so you can slip your mouse in and it's not dangling there.
I also thought a cup holder would be cool but then it wouldn't be as functional because then the top would have to stay horizontal when you get up and lets face it most people have an end table by their sofa to set a drink. Your speaker idea is cool though but it might be tricky to implement it and keep cable management under control.

I've been using it all afternoon watching football and am really enjoying it. haha

I could use that while working from home. I'd just need to tuck the pillow a litle lower in case of a video conference call.

Ah, I see.

I'd like a sorta side rail mount system, so you could add a cup holder or other attachment and then place it optimally for that. Plus if you could lock each arm in so they stay (like has a piece that slides between the cushions or something, or maybe in the back) so you can just easily just lift the top and put it back. Another idea would be to split the main piece, maybe make it two tiered, where each side has part and it swivels from the arm. This way you don't have to lift it or could use it on just one side so you don't hog the hole couch.

This is probably something I'll end up doing for my setup as I have a similar style chair. Do you feel it works well for FPSes and is it comfortable in general? I guess it really depends on the chair too though. Like for mine I have a feeling it might end up being too high, but I'll play around with different setups. Once I'm happy with it I'll sand and finish it. Probably going to use plywood and then just make it look nice.

Sorry, nerds sit at their computer desk. Hipsters take their computer to bed.
