My wife says this is "to nerdy" even for me. What do you guys think?

So I was cruising through some sales on Newegg last week and saw the COUCHMASTER Cycon was on sale for what seemed like a decent price. Well needless to say I let my inner nerd get the best of me and bought one. It came yesterday so in good spirits I opened it up carefully examining each piece and proceeded to set it up. Well my wife saw and was like "WOW that is the nerdiest thing you have ever bought. I can't believe you spent a $100 on that." she then preceded to poke fun at me for the next hour or so.
Nothing mean just good natured teasing.
She even got my youngest son in on the ribbing until a couple hours later he tried it out. Needless to say he now LOVES it haha! He even said "I know I made fun of you but I love this thing".

So what do you guys think? To nerdy for even you or not that bad?
And just for reference here is a pic of my son using it.

That's pretty nerdy :^D

It's also kind of spendy for what it is, but if you get quality usage out of it, that's what matters, right?

i'm jelly. way nicer than the crappy raised plastic laptop platform i've always used. though it does take up quite a bit of room.

it's not nerdy to want to prevent your you know what from getting roasted by a hot laptop

I've thought of something like this myself. My current gaming setup requires me to use a KVM since my main system is Linux but still need Windows for most games. KVMs suck since they lock up and go finicky all the time so it would be nice to eliminate it. I'd like to just move the gaming PC to the TV but the physical layout is the issue, not sure how to game from couch using keyboard/mouse and still be comfortable. Something like this could work. Only thing is my "couch" is really just a couch chair, so don't know if it would really work. My actual couch is too badly oriented to use to play from. I really need to get rid of my fireplace, then I could put the couch in front of the TV where it belongs and it would solve lot of problems.

FYI. Newegg recently had a data breach. Turns out they literally did nothing to protect their customers. So watch your cards.

Add a pilot's relief tube and I'm in.
Haha I should ask her about that just to see what she says. Judging from most of the replies this isn't to nerdy which is what I thought to. To many times I see threads like this where to many people focus on to many of the wrong things and they miss the point. The point is to have fun and to many times to many people miss that. It's to bad really.

It could also be a great stand for various sex toys that you use on her so you don't have to stop in order to grab a new one or having them roll around on the bed.

And you are already in the perfect position to alternate between toys and going down on her without missing a beat.

Unfortunately it's not available at newegg.ca. Checked Amazon and it's there for a bit under $200.

Probably going to end up building a TV tray out of plywood or something. I should get on that before it gets too cold to work in my garage. I kinda want to play some KSP and UT3, been a while since I gamed since I got rid of my KVM, was giving me too many issues.

There's even a place on the side to put all the toys!

I find this qualm to be on point.

She got a chuckle out of that. hehe She said she likes the way you think.:D

That's actually good advice for any husband who wants to keep his partner apathetic towards his online shopping habits. A sleep in + breakfast in bed on the weekends can be potent stuff, I recommend employing it regularly.

Hmmm. I think maybe it's a little nerdy but not real bad. Certainly not the nerdiest shit I've seen. Maybe a 3.5 or 4/10 on the nerd scale.

That doesn't strike me as nerdy much at all really. If anything that reeks of the way that non-nerds have gotten into typically nerdy stuff, but they want it to be premium, leather wrapped/etc/etc because they want to be better than nerds (who tend to be more function over form).

Also, holy carp, that seems...unwieldy. Like can you even use it properly? That seems fine for your son, but as an adult wouldn't give you much room between the two arms/legs? Or is it adjustable or something?

I'd think something with thinner supports that flare out for arm-rests on the side would be better, maybe something where you can adjust the height (so if the supports fit into the space between cushions you can raise it higher). And maybe some mountable points for various things (headphone hanger, And no dedicated cup holder is a mild disappointment. For as bulky as that is, I'd love it to have optional speakers, maybe a headphone DAC. And for it to have its own power outlet (maybe for new USB-C 3.1Gen2 stuff where you can get 100W, so you could charge your laptop/phone/tablet, have speakers/etc (maybe even add a monitor mount or something).

Hell throw some shoulder straps on it so you could stand and take it with you. Put some extendable legs so you can use it while taking a shit.
