jonnyGURU- I can sympathize; Our rear-entry driveway curves from/to the cul-de-sac. Well, one morning she is backing out in a hurry and apparently is looking back over her right shoulder, cuts it too far to her left and mows down our mailbox. Brick mailbox
Price tag to replace...........$300 plus.
I would say that the look you described your wife had on her face was very similar to the that of my wife that morning.

as neo said, the car can be fixed the woman cannot be.

Hey accidents happen, so its nothing to worry. The next time she will be a lot more careful backing out. My mom was backing out of the garage and pretty much left a huge dent on the passenger side. I will have to fix that sometime. Its more of a paint job than anything else, but still I want to have it fixed.

LMAO, oh sorry Johnny... Hey why the hell are our rates so high? Whenever I see dumb accidents its usually women at the wheel? Jeez, Im 22 and have never had a wreck yet and here my rates are higher then my 19 year-old sister and shes had 2 wrecks. Go figure. BTW if my girlfriend did that to my 83 camaro with her 2000 honda civic I think I would cry...

Feel for you Johnny:)

HELL YEAH!!!

Relax...just tell the insurance company that, "she hit a deer." Or, that it was an incredible stroke of bad luck, "TWO hit and runs the same day."

Sounds like something I have come very close to myself, several times...better luck than your wife though.

Wasn't your wife's nickname crash?

Now all your neighbors are talking about the new drunk lady that moved in.

Didn't she get pissed last time you did that?

As frustrating as it may be now, in a year you'll probably both laugh about it. Eventually it will be one of those stories you tell on each other, & it'll be just one more item on the long list of reasons why you love her.

It's amazing what love will allow you to forgive, overlook, and accept in another person.

don't be mad at her, thats probably the worst thing to do. accidents happen. tell her it's okay. hey its just money, it doesn't sound like it was damaged badly.

My sister did the same thing to my car last year. She turned backing out of the driveway and caught the corner of my rear bumper with the front of her car. Damn near ripped the whole thing off.

Could have been really worse, like a Trans Am and a 'Vette.

My best friend wiped out the whole side of my car once in his driveway. I felt worse for him than I did for myself. He had a brand new Jeep Grand Cherokee and I had my "beater". Got more from the Insurance than the car was worth.

Why does this remind me of the time I was rear-ended in my driveway by the van from the House for the Blind? (true story, car was 3 months old....) My fathers first comment was "Did you check the driver?"

thebestmax: I could care less if it was a 'vette or a Camaro.

I really empathize with you...my wife did a similar thing, but the cars involved were a new Taurus and Volvo S80...

I guess that's what my mom gets for using our driveway as airport parking...

I just hope that the day never comes when I'm in the same situation. Whenever I'm at home I live in fear that my 16 year old sister will back into my car. Insurance is a joke at my age, I've never been in an accident and my insurance is still more than my sister's, and she rolled her car within two months of getting her license! She walked away from the accident with no injuries by the way. My reaction woulod depend on the person, if it was my sister there would be retaliation. If it was (hypothetically) my girlfriend, well in that case it was just a car and it can be fixed. :)

Only meant from a cost basis. All car repairs are a PIA and expensive but worse if you are a car affectianado.

The look on her face was more of one of "please don't rip me out of this car and stuff me in the bushes".

Oh, I know that look, I have had it several times myself. Not necessarily in the car mind you, but I have had it. Especially when I crashed into the camper my stepfather had crawled into to sleep off his drunkeness after fighting with my mom. :D

And come on people, it's not like he is saying he is leaving her and taking everything because she did this. We all need to vent sometimes, and besides, its a funny story. ;)
