Sorry for you. In my household the water bill would be at a more rational level (doesn't she feel guilty about wasting so much water?) and there would be a shiny new boat in my driveway. You haven't adequately trained your wife; please turn in your balls to the nearest manhood recycling center.

Seriously, if you want your wife to quit the nail thing, I can have my wife write a testimonial. I convinced her to stop after she'd been having acrylic put on her nails for five or so years. It started when she jammed her finger into the car door, and her entire nail ripped off -- extremely painful. Once she had the fake nails taken off, it took about 18 months before her nails were normal again because they were so screwed up. Plus, the constant bathing in UV light aged her hands prematurely.

Bad stuff.

Yea, I have never heard anyone say "just top up both tanks but stop at 1000 bucks a side" untill I started working there, of course that boat is much bigger than your stingray.

$150/month to borrow $12,000? How long is that loan, 10 years?

one more tip on the water bill.

If you are watering your lawn a whole bunch then get a separate water meter on your external faucets. You may not have to pay drainage/sewage on the water you put on your lawn. It can signifiantly lower your bill.

Your lawn only needs an inch of water a week(Unless you live in Arizona, your "soil" is sand, and it's 110F every day..)..

And I thought we used a lot of water........ our biggest water bill has only been like 40$.. :p

He needs to invest in a couple of rain barrels. Hook the downspouts to the barrels, with a valved hose at the bottom, and that should be plenty to keep the lawn green.

water bill

And it is not $150 per month for a boat. That is the what you pay on the loan. Now factor in gas, oil and maintenance items (on the boat and the trailer). Don't forget to factor in the cost of insurance also.

Is your wife from the South? Every woman I have met from the South does that stupid nail thing.

Well thats a bit fvcked up. But have you been with her since shes 15 though? She should let you spend your money man. If she can spend $125 every 3 months then so can you. The nails thing is definately a bit overboard but that may have attracted you in the first place so if so you can't complain.........same with the hair thing. My gf spend about £40-£70 or so when she does her hair. I'm not so bothered as it once every 3 months or longer and the fact that I love long hair and I don't want her to have short hair.

Back to original thread:

WOW $300 a month on water? You crazy?

Assuming the cost per gallon of your municipal water supply is $.20 (around the average), you used over 1500 gallons of water on that lawn!

you do realize that there are operating costs to consider. If you just let the boat sit there it will be 150 a month. But boats require a good deal of maintanance and care which will increase the overall cost of the boat. You know what they say, the happiest days in a boat owners life are the day he buys it...and the day he sells it.

<-- Owns a sailboat. Much less to operate! But cant go skiing :(

I know what you mean...my wife spends $10 at the salon to get her hair trimmed every couple months. $60/year in hair costs alone!!!! :Q In addition, she buys a nail kit about every year so she can do her nails about every month...$10 more per year!!!!! Woe is me!

boats are an expensive toy to maintain dude, in both money and time. If you have never owned one ask people who have and they will tell you. Some other people who replied have said as much.
