If you really had nothing on the side, they probably gained access to someone else's account on your shared webserver and found that they could modify your files because you had set them to be writable by everyone.

It's not a big deal, but definitely contact your webhost so they can track down the point of intrusion.
 
here's what I got back

There is no server side security issue, please make sure all your site scripts are update to date and patched against known exploits, please also make sure you have no files/folders with 777 permission.

Please let us know if you need us to restore the entire account or a specific file/folder from a backup.

I just dont understand this. I had a plain index.html file with one line of text. go to msi1337.com and you can see it. That is the only thing I changed on the entire account.
