My Trip to Tijuana

Wow, I don't see why you have any problems. Try walking down Main Street America drinking beer and see if the cops don't give you a hefty fine. Try peeing in public in any town in America and see if you don't get fined. Be happy all you had to do was pay the cops and go on your way instead of making a court appearance, or at the very least waiting in line at the clerks office to pay your fine, like you most likely would be doing in the States. IMO, giving the cops a few dollars is much better than having it on public record and possibly hassling with court or having to go to the clerks office and wait in line.

Why do people think they are exempt from typical laws just because they are in Mexico?

Sounds to me like he was on the receiving end of the donkey show ...

Never admit to carrying money or plastic in Mexico. Just keep a couple of bucks in your pocket. The policia probably saw you paying cash to the vendor and wanted "everything you got"

my brother went over there and came back within hours. He didn't exactly feel safe either.

Was that the Neuroligical conference? Nope, that would be over my head.

Kinda off-topic, but were you in San Diego for the SFN conference last week?

I myself wonder how in the heck people afford to live there.

Not sure how long I could handle the beautiful weather all year.

Me either. I  San Diego.

BTW-Anyone looking to buy a house here, PM me. My wife is a realtor.

Went to TJ for my first time this last June.

we had a good time, drank a good amount of beer, had some great food, sat in a strip club for 30-minutes, got propositioned a few times, checked out the red-light district...... whoa! and then walked back across the border.

Seeing the police there with automatic weapons makes you understand your no longer in America.

We made a day out of it and left promptly before darrkness came!

Really? What's the market like downtown (gaslamp district)? I like La Jolla, but I'm pretty young (25) and I think I'd enjoy downtown better...

Well, unless you just signed an NBA contract or were born into money, I think it's out of your range. Or maybe you skipped college and became a business genius or found some shmuck company to overpay for your programming skills.

Actually, my NBA contract hasn't started yet, but my businesses are all pretty much running on their own, so I'm just taking in profits right now, not really working. I figure that Larry and Bill pretty much can handle things on their own now. I can't really run Oracle and Microsoft at the same time, especially since they bicker with each other so much at lunch meetings.

😉

they won't clean up their act until stupid americans stop going😛 rather not go to a country like that and get shat on.

Pretty sure that was my first and last trip to Tijuana.

Ive crossed the border twice. The first time was with a bunch of mexican-americans (a few big mofos too) so no one messed with us. The second time, was just some college buddies, but we didnt get hassled at all. Though, one friend almost did get arrested - he was really drunk and cops were trying to find something to bust him on.

You'd really need to talk to my wife if you're serious. She deals mainly with north county coastal but does occasionally hold open houses in the Solana Beach area. She works out of Rancho Santa Fe.

La Jolla is expensive, downtown is also expensive. Some of the condos in downtown are like $500k and up for a small one bedroom.
