Seriously though, if future studies actually show it does help in some cases then that's a good thing. Not in an "instead of" to the vaccine but goes along with it.

The Democratic party could start a revolution by asking all democrats to not buy any product advertised on Fox but they won't because it would threaten campaign contributions and be politically mean. It might destroy Fox news though and help save the country. I remember the days when we couldn't eliminate weapons of mass destruction because of all the jobs that would be lost.

The established science community generally has a habit of quadruple checking its work and letting itself be peer-reviewed, so it does not make too many declarative statements and when it does, its usually right. Because we have approximately 70 million people in this nation who've been brainwashed into thinking what they believe is always right, it is kind of tough for the regular scientific community to fight bad logic and horrible misinformation.
Just the other day, my lovely friends over at That Other Place found one video of a A doctor on a talk show saying masks arent all that great at protecting against the Omicron variant and of course they turned it into "MASKS ARE FUCKIN USELESS WHY ARE YOU WEARING MASKS YOU FUCKIN TOOL!" and obviously the conversation turned to crap at that point.

It isn't the Viagra that helps exactly. It is the nitric oxide that opens up the veins etc and allows the patient to get more oxygen. Viagra is based on this fact to aid with ED.

You are absolutely correct. But its nothing new.
The entire story of humanity is basically a series of smart manipulative people controlling the dumb ignorant masses and getting everything they can from them. Money, power, fame, glory, and nice things in the history books. Adolph Hitler is probably the only truly powerful man who has nothing but ugly things said about him. Stalin was worse but he gets much less attention because he knew how to control information.
And when Donald passes away, theres gonna be a flood of books and documentaries calling him a hero and a stable genius. Most of them will include quotes by Tucker Carlson. In fact Tucker will also have mostly nice things said about him after he dies. Unless we found out he raped children or something equally nasty, then his fans will be quiet for a year and eventually go back to saying nothing but nice things. People still love Michael Jackson. And Rush Limbaugh.

Propaganda is such a powerful weapon and I think the 21st Century exemplifies that perfectly. Thanks to modern technology no one can hid information any more and they dont have to. You can simply flood the internet with misinformation, creative a narrative that people want to hear, and carry on as if thats reality. The republican party figured that out a LONG time ago and the democrats still dont grasp it. Thats why the winners will be destructive monsters will the good people will be flailing around hopelessly.

And in the meantime, Tucker gets rich. Cuz he's smart and evil.

Well Viagra can help with PAH and some other complications but it does absolutely nothing to combat the virus itself, nor does it treat or even affect the infection.

It's kind of like how an amputation will help you if Covid causes a blood clot to form and that causes necrosis, it doesn't do anything for the virus and it absolutely does not work as a prophylaxis.

Mostly. But like Donald and most other Republicans, he will not ever take responsibility for their deaths. In fact if you watch closely they've been doing a marvelous job convincing people the Democrats are somehow to blame for all of this.

Well, of course not. Psychopaths have no sense of guilt or responsibility. As Trump said "I take no responsibility at all".

It is unfortunate that their base are so willfully ignorant that they refuse reality, as obvious as it is, to keep their fantasy intact and never have to admit, even to themselves, that they could possibly be wrong about anything, ever.

I wouldn't exactly compare it to an amputation, for certain patients it may help with tissue oxygenation at a pretty basic level. You wouldn't write off giving Covid patients supplemental oxygen because it doesn't directly work on the virus itself would you? How about BiPap? Prone ventilation?

It isn't new science, but a new method/application of an established treatment. When I worked on NICU/PICU transport team in the late 90s, nitric oxide was in established use then for premies with severely compromised respiratory systems. Viagra is just a different way of getting the same effect.

For those not familiar, Viagra and its cousin medications help improve blood flow by relaxing the walls of certain blood vessels. That can help you get an erection (if your issue is a blood flow problem) or in this case, it is thought to be improving blood flow to and from the lungs by relaxing blood vessels in the pulmonary circuit. Getting what functional lung tissue remains to work a bit better.

Though I do agree that nothing has been presented to make any case for it helping prevent it, or do anything outside possibly helping people who are already severely compromised by the disease and at a high likelihood of death.
