I'd buy the S4 or the upcoming S5 coupe from Audi in a second from the choices you are listing. That 4.2 liter V8 is pure sex.

I think driving the 2007 G35 Sedan would be worthwhile as the whole car got a workover including a higher output engine and a greatly improved interior. I'm not huge on the styling...but it is worth a look.

I'd also check out the Lexus IS unless you don't like the styling. Great car in both 250 and 350 flavors...although AWD only comes with the 250. Not as pure sports sedan as the Audi...but still a great ride.

If you want a SUV...get the new BMW X5...good stuff...and they make them less than 15 miles from my house.

It isn't at dealers yet...not 100% sure when it will be hitting the showrooms...maybe someone here is in the know.

I have an 04 TL A-Spec and I'm happy w it. If you're a 'gadget guy', as I'm sure most of us are, it's a friggin sweet ride. Yeah, FWD isn't the greatest for performance but it's still got 270 ponies (or at least that's what my 04 is rated at) and FWD is better if you get snow. Handling is good for a vehicle of it's size, DVD-Audio kicks ass. I would consider checking out the G37 when it comes out, I might get one next year. I seriously consider the BMW 3-series before I bought my TL and I think I got much, much more for my money with the TL. Yeah, I could have optioned out a 335 and it would have been a better car but for a helluva a lot more money. The Acura GPS system is one of, if not the, best out there. I can honestly say it's not just a conversation piece or something to brag about, it's actually functionally useful. I used to have a really good sense of direction but when I drive my Jeep I realize how much I miss the GPS and how dumb I've gotten without it.

The G35. Driving that thing is exhilarating.

nice but exhilarating is overboard.

Go drive an Evo, your opinion on performance will change entirely, the S4's got nothing on it.

I'm actually surprised you enjoyed the S4 - maybe it's just me, but I don't enjoy them. I've driven one from the previous generation and just two days ago drove a red 06. Again, it didn't have much excitement... acceleration was pretty much just linear, I guess compared to the Evo, it doesn't impress me.

Turboed cars are a lot more fun to drive - once that boost builds, damn, it's turned into another car.

that's a problem there 😛 And I've never been a fan of the interiors (or exteriors) of the evo/wrx. Not to say it'd be a fun car to own... I couldn't do it as a daily driver.

If you get a chance to look at the interior, you're not driving the car properly 😉

But yeah, the interior isn't what you'd find from other cars in the price range, I love the car simply because of its characteristics.

Dead on Agaboogaboo. Evo and Sti arent about COMFORT, they aren't about luxury...pure performance and can I say MADNESS?

Leather seats? throw that out the window. Grab the steering wheel and gear lever and smell the burning clutches, hear the blow up valves, feel your back get thrown against your seat...turbo is ever so addicting

But when you finally settle down and park the car in your drive way and take a look at your insurance bill :brokenheart:

But this in no way relates to what the OP is wanting...he is wanting a bit of performance...but he also wants a luxurious ride. He may not love the S4 interior...but all Audi products have absolutely amazing interior build quality and luxury...may not be everyones taste...but no one is going to say it is cheap and uncomfortable.

OP: Which at this point is a long list as I don't know what I want, I think i want something sporty, or a convertible or an escalade......I just don't know yet.

What is the difference? extra room in the back? engine is the same right? I'm single I don't need a back seat.
new motor and new chassis, for one.

Having purchased the G35 (Sport, went with the Auto) Sedan, the bang for the buck factor is hard to beat. This car is amazing (and considering what else is in the stables, that should mean a fair amount)...and I find it amusing how you define your 'budget' when including a 60k car....and that the salesman didn't beat the living hell out of you for doing what you 'said' you did coming onto that on-ramp.

The S4 is $48500.

lol.....he is a salesman he would be an idiot to say anything about my driving. When test driving a car of that caliber I will drive it anyway I see fit. In the event he did try to condemn my driving I would have certainly returned to the dealership and made certain to express to the GM why I wouldn't consider buying my vehicle from them.
