This may sound silly, but have you double checked all the +/- and ground wire settings of the Case wires that connect to the MB? Sometimes screwy happenings with an otherwise working system put into a new case are as simple as a backwards case wire connected to the MB.

How do you turn on the MB without a power-switch being connected? Also, how is the computer grounded if everything is laid-out on a piece of cardboard?

You probably sent some static electricity through the MB and screwed it up if you powered up the MB on a piece of cardboard... cases help keep the electronics grounded.

I say you damaged the MB in some way, which is why it's doing what it's doing... probably time for a new MB (and next time ground it before you turn it on!)

the only +/- switch connected is the power switch cable.. and it is correctly installed, and I powered the motherboard on inside the new case when it initially gave me problems.. I only layed it down on a piece of cardboard because technical support told me to

Are you using just one video card right now? And if so, did you change the jumpers back(at least I think you have to change jumpers for SLI)?
