I was never good at math. It takes me awhile to grasp something. I can look over the book, have it taught to me, and be confused as hell and fail the test, but look over it again after several months, and have complete understanding. Weird :^/

Advanced sophomore students take Honors Algebra II/Trig. The normal course is Geometry.

He skipped 8th grade so he took algebra and geometry his freshman year.

I took geometry freshmen year too. Slept through the entire class. Switched schools sophomore year and my trig teacher wouldn't let me sleep 🙁

Math competitions were miserables at my school. They were every Saturday at 8am at some school 2-5 hours away. So every Saturday we'd all wake up at 3 AM or so, get on a bus, go take math tests, then get back home around 8 or 9pm.

You couldn't do anything fun on Friday because you had to wake up super early. You couldn't do anything fun on Saturday because you were so tired. Then you couldn't do anything on Sunday because you had homework all day.

I quit after the first year so I could join the robotics team. Much more fun.

Fortunately, the competitions are at a university about 30 minutes from our house so it won't be that bad.

My geometry teacher in HS was an old fat hypochondriac. She'd eat a spoonful of peanut butter every 30 minutes because of blood sugar or something. I was in constant fear that her pants were going to explode and kill the front 4 rows in class.

The thing I remember most about trig is that the teacher was a really atractive woman who had just finished college.

Shw was a good teacher too.

Those popping buttons could have been lethal projectiles.

My teacher was as dull as it came, and he knew it. He had no problem with people sleeping in class. Unlike the rest of my classmates, however, I did not have to hear a word he said. I know people have trouble with math, but I can't understand why. I have to assume it has to do with natural talent, but it comes so easy to me that I don't understand how it can be so frustratingly difficult for others.

The chemistry student teacher at my school was still in school, and attractive is putting it lightly. Only thing I remember about chemistry is her and exploding bubbles.

Just took a while to sink in.

I studied math through differential equations and did okay through hard work, but I'm not a math whiz. Now the only math I do is statistics.

Why do you guys constantly get sucked into the OP's threads? He always posts stuff like this and it always gets turned into flame bait.

Dude. It's just a discussion. If it was any other poster, you wouldn't say that. There is no flame bait, just a bunch of trolls that want to troll for the sake of trolling. There is absolutely nothing wrong with his posts. Everyone else is discussing just fine, why can't you?

Because he NEVER makes a thread that isn't flame bait. Like you said, if it was another poster I wouldn't' say that cus that's what he does.

Then point out the actual flame bait? There is none and a regular discussion is taking place, in both threads he started tonight. The only bait is added by trolls to try to spark a flame war.

Sure, he has made threads that were obvious flame bait in the past. Doesn't make every single thread he ever starts flame bait though.

I feel that way about writing classes. I'll do math every quarter if I don't have to take one writing class.

I bs'ed my way through a couple of intro writing classes, I hate math...all ive done is up through intro trig and college algebra and thats enough for me

/think i have business stats at some point. ick.

ALG2/Trig as a sophomore? Thats normal for HS students around here, accelerated would be taking pre-calc as a sophomore, Calc as a Junior and then taking whatever was above that at the magnet high school/local CC as a senior which one of my friends did.

What entails "pre-calc"? Calculus came straight after algebra 2 and trigonometry for me.

My problem is I can't BS. I hate BS. I can see right through it and it frustrates me to try to read through the redundant mess that people write to reach some arbitrary word count. Furthermore, most writing courses are a complete waste of time for a student. I think writing is as much a talent as pattern recognition, and pattern recognition is going to be more helpful in 99% of careers.

No doubt he's siting there waiting for someone to ask what school... which he will then turn around and point out its "jesus and mary worship high school" and there's no stigma because catholics dont do that in his community.

And yet nobody is asking or cares, and the only people to make a fuss are the ones that always troll his threads for no legitimate reason.

because everyone knows its troll bait... and the best way to make a troll die..
