Meh, I LIKE the 932.

Even though I don't NEED the room it offers, I have BIG hands...and having a large case makes it easier for me to work inside...Plus, the larger air volume makes it easier to cool. (takes more heat to affect the overall temps inside..not a big deal, but it can be a factor)
Does it cost more? Yes. Is it worth it (to me) ? Yes. Then again, if I could have justified the extra $60, I'd have gone with the HAF X.

You need a full tower? Those cases are ginormous. $75 for WD Green is o_O. Go for the drive in my sig (and use it while waiting for gen3 SSD's, or not, your choice). The mobo seems overkill as well. Plus I personally woudn't buy an MSI board unless it got higher rated than the competition.

850W is overkill unless you plan on running furmark 24/7, two 580's only consume 620W during Crisis.

Also superbiiz has 15% off (max $15) right now so I'd take advantage of it for one of your parts.

A few thoughts:

  • Would not pay $140 for the 932 unless you really really want a massive case. I'd get something like the Antec 300.
  • Would not pay $75 for a Green 1TB drive. Either get the F3 1TB for $70 or the Green 2TB for $80 AR
  • Would not pay $50 for DDR3 1600. Get some DDR3 1333 for $40.
  • Would not buy an Intel over a Sandforce like the F90.
  • Would not pay that much for the PSU. An Earthwatts 650W would be fine.
  • Would not pay that much for the motherboard. Get the 2500K + UD3 combo.
The DVD drive, OS, and cooler look good though!

Different strokes for different folks.

With one HDD and one video card, I certainly don't NEED a full tower, but I LIKE the big cases.

Right, but given the OP's other choices, it's questionable whether or not he needs/wants a full tower or if he was just picking randomly. :p

Edit: 4,500th post! I'll catch up to you eventually Boomer. Maybe when we're arguing about the i5 7998K vs. i7 7999K.

Nah...I'm too much of a blabber-fingers for that to ever happen...unless I piss the mods off once too many times...:p

I agree with PatWolf that the 850 isn't really NEEDED. Personally, I'd go with a XFX 750 for that build. That way, he has power to spare if he decides to go SLI and overclock his processor without pushing the PSU beyond about 80% capacity.

Good build, if you dont mind being a ricer go ahead and get the Nvidia case if it tickles your fancy, It looks like a great case that will last you into your next build at least (lots of room) I would go for something more akin to the HAF 912 for a more cost efficient build it has excellent airflow. Everything else looks fine to me and a good combo to boot.

Thanks Mnewsham...

Now I have to get the guts to hit the ORDER button and build...LOL!

Should this let me game strongly for close to 3 years?

I think so, course that depends on your definition of "strongly".

Personally I'd get DDR3-1600 (G.Skill 1.5v). The difference is generally nil but it's not much more $ and faster is faster. Oh and this PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817139005

In what way would you be over clocking the RAM?

I've never overclocked before, if I leave everything FACTORY set, will I still be able to play games maxed out? Play Crysis 2 at full settings?

But, if I do decide to OC eventually, which ram is better?

Someone also suggested I go with the UD4 instead of UD3...just wanted to see if I could get a 2nd opinion on this...

Ram won't matter in OC just try for 1.5v,

Here's the sandy bridge build I came up with:

Antec Sonata III Case with 500W Earthwatts Power Supply $119
Intel BOXDP67A Motherboard $116
PNY XLR8 GTX 460 1 GB Video Card $189
Intel Core i5-2500 Processor $209
Kingston 6 GB (3x2 GB) DDR3 1333 PC3 10600 Memory $68
OCZ Agility 2 3.5" 120 GB SATA Drive $209
Hitachi Deskstar 7K1000.C 1TB 7200 RPM SATA Drive $54
LITE-ON Black Blu-Ray Combo Drive $49
M-Audio Studiophile AV 30 Speakers $119
Microsoft Keyboard and Mouse $42

Total: $1,175

I already have the license for Windows 7 Home Premium. Any thoughts?
