My respect for AROD (other than his baseball ability) is just about at zero.

He still never apologized for last year's ALCS stunt (and still to this day says there's nothing wrong with it, he'll do whatever it takes to win, even cheat), and on top of that thinks he's better than players with kids (i.e. his comments: while you're taking your kids to school in the morning, I'm working out!). He's not a team player, that's why Jeter hates him. And it's why I thank God every day he plays for the Yankees and continues to suck the life out of them financially and spiritually.

Yes he puts up decent numbers, but no team has ever won a championship with him, not even the highest payroll team on the planet.

Oh, just get off you soap box would ya. You make it sound like he robbed a bank or something. Since the ALCS incident several prominent players said that what Arod did was right and he tried to help his team. So let me get this, do you get angry every time a catcher tries to frame a pitch to mae a ball look like a strike? What about when 2nd basemen try to ghost tag a basestealer making it look like he tagged him. What about all those pitchers using spitballs or all those batters corking their bats.

You hate the Yankees, we all know that and that's fine. But stop making up crap. You don't know sh*t, where did you get the idea that Jeter hates Arod, did the three of you discuss that during dinner last night? Of all the things other players do, I think Arod has to be considered one of the most decent human beings. He doesn't use steroids, he doesn't accuse his teammates. He doesn't require special treatment like, hmm lets see a certain Red Sox player that plays for the Mets now did. So take your propaganda stuff elsewhere. I thought maybe after Sox won the championshiop you'd be less bitter but apparently that loser attitude is something that's entrenched too deep inside the Red Sox nations.

P.S. No team that had Ted Williams, or Yaz has won a World Series either. They must be selfish players too I guess.

Yup, must have been egotistical pricks who sucked the life out of the team financially and spiritually.

WOW. :Q

Ouch....

I imagine they have some prospects over there as well too.

If Arod has dual citizenship he could play for either country, him not being able to speak the language of the country is kind of weird though. Every dual citizenship person I have met has been fluent in both.

I've seen Arod speak spanish many times. Don't know if has an accent or not though.

he speaks terrible spanish.

he's on that commercial on YES speaking spanish.

how do you know he didn't do steroids? how do you know that he doesn't require special treatment (SEE private jet)... did you two discuss these issues over dinner last nite?

as for your P.S. since when does correlation mean causation? not a very slick point.

Alex's spanish is fine. I spoke to him twice in 96 when he played for the Mariners and he had no problems speaking fluently.

If you knew anything about steroids you would be able to tell that his body type isn't a type that shows steroid use. Also notice how all those suspected of usign steroids started having "problems" as soon as they started testing. Let me guess though, you're a Mets fan, right? It pleases me that he Mets and Red Sox fans in this thread are the ones bashing Arod the most. As they say the enemy of your enemy is your friend.

And as for your comment on my P.S. I was just showing how stupid the OPs statement was regarding accusing Arod of never winning a WS. There are a lot of great players that never won one, that shouldn't be an indication of somebody being selfish or bad teamplayer.

He's just a horrible speaker in general. His English is honestly worse than his Spanish.

matstars, you seem to have a lot of anger towards another teams player. That seems to be pretty sad. I don't spend a second of my life wondering what certain Mets players do. You seem to have the typical Mets fans "little brother" complex. I'm just pointing out how stupid your accusations are.

You're accusing the guy for wanting to play for his country. How come you don't get on Manny for trying to do the same, he's a US citizen too. He grew up in New York as well and makes almost as much money as Alex. So how come he gets a pass while Arod gets the blame? Is that a dual standard?

Beyond all that, you're basing your entire argument on a speculation. You don't even know if Arod indeed said that. Seems to me like you have a lot of hidden anger towards the guy and you're trying to drag his name in the mud. Why won't you go pick somebody else for that purpose, like a guy who shoved a cameraman, or the guy who continues to accuse reporters of everything and using the race card. Leave one of the nicer baseball players alone.

in my book, considering the ridiculous power number surge in recent years, everyone's in question to have taken steroids, nobody gets a free pass.

What the hell are you talking about? A-Rod speaks English on par with Jeter and Bernie Williams.

If you listen carefully he does have a hint of spanish accent but it's very tough to pick up.

I didn't touch on any of your points because they were stupid. Yes I know enough about steroids to spot a steroid user. I spend enough of my time in the gym to know several people who use steroids. Unlike guys like Sosa/McGuire/Bonds Arods body type looks pretty much the same as it looked in late 90s. You seem to say that you suspect ALL players of using steroids, well if that's the case you can't use that argument against Arod. If you think all players are using steroids you can't say that "Arod is a cheater because he uses steroids". In fact if you're that paranoid perhaps a visit to the doctor is in order.

Ask anybody with half a brain and they'll put Arod towards the very bottom of steroid suspects. You very own Curt Schilling said that.

You call my points stupid, yet you say

I spend enough of my time in the gym to know several people who use steroids

and this isn't even grammatically correct nor is it factually correct

You very own Curt Schilling said that.

i'm a met fan, not a redsox fan.

I use bad grammar on an internet forum, therefore my argument must be false. Grats, your logic is impeccable.

You claim to know a lot of about steroids, care to back up your credentials? For all I know you're a 16 year old teenager who has never see na steroid in his life.

I've never claimed to know... but I assure you I know a lot more than the general person (which you undoubtably are part of, but thats a generalization so maybe you will prove me wrong) When I get home from work we'll speak in a detailed discussion about this if you wish.

Considering I thought about doing steroids at one point, yes I do know more about them than an average person.
