My respect for AROD (other than his baseball ability) is just about at zero.

Never understood all the hate for Arod. Sure he is overpaid (how many professional athletes arent?) but its not like he robbed a bank for the money. That moron Hicks paid $60 to $70 million more than the highest offer he had at the time (the braves i remember correctly). Still the guy is a model citizen, never gets in trouble (on or off the field), puts up great numbers year in and year out and people still find something to bash him on.

Other than this, I agree with you. A lot of times people want to find flaws in people that don't seem to have any, and A-Rod is a LIGHTNING ROD for those people.

But in this instance it's different. Are you American? Do you not feel insulted that he doesn't want to play for America?

he has dual-citizenship, what's the big deal?

Gary Sheffield's comments are FAR more offensive to the average person, but because he isn't the 'highest paid' player in the game, it's blown out of proportion - A-Rod is a good guy, if every pro athelete was as good a person as he is, we'd be much better off...get off his back.

whether he likes it or not, he will get judged by society since he's in the spotlight, making what you said a moot point.

if he doesn't like it, take a page out of barry sanders' book

Why the f*ck do you lose respect for him? He is Dominican and he has full right to play for his country. Doesn't he do enough for America by donating millions of dollars to different charities?

No, he's a selfish, egotistical prick who thinks that it's ok to cheat and still get away with it. He still never apologized for last year's ALCS stunt (and still to this day says there's nothing wrong with it, he'll do whatever it takes to win, even cheat), and on top of that thinks he's better than players with kids (i.e. his comments: while you're taking your kids to school in the morning, I'm working out!). He's not a team player, that's why Jeter hates him. And it's why I thank God every day he plays for the Yankees and continues to suck the life out of them financially and spiritually.

Yes he puts up decent numbers, but no team has ever won a championship with him, not even the highest payroll team on the planet.

Well a similar thing happens to Allan Houston of the NY Knicks. He didn't demand the large contract, but he accepted it (of course), when any sane person would tell you it's too much (even Allan himself has said it). So he gets a ton of criticism nonetheless.

Well, the guy still has to perform..I'm not saying Arod hasn't but Houston sure hasn't.

Isn't that what the Yankees say about his playoff performances? :p

Really, does it matter what team he plays for??

Oh, just get off you soap box would ya. You make it sound like he robbed a bank or something. Since the ALCS incident several prominent players said that what Arod did was right and he tried to help his team. So let me get this, do you get angry every time a catcher tries to frame a pitch to mae a ball look like a strike? What about when 2nd basemen try to ghost tag a basestealer making it look like he tagged him. What about all those pitchers using spitballs or all those batters corking their bats.

You hate the Yankees, we all know that and that's fine. But stop making up crap. You don't know sh*t, where did you get the idea that Jeter hates Arod, did the three of you discuss that during dinner last night? Of all the things other players do, I think Arod has to be considered one of the most decent human beings. He doesn't use steroids, he doesn't accuse his teammates. He doesn't require special treatment like, hmm lets see a certain Red Sox player that plays for the Mets now did. So take your propaganda stuff elsewhere. I thought maybe after Sox won the championshiop you'd be less bitter but apparently that loser attitude is something that's entrenched too deep inside the Red Sox nations.

P.S. No team that had Ted Williams, or Yaz has won a World Series either. They must be selfish players too I guess.

Ouch....

I imagine they have some prospects over there as well too.

If Arod has dual citizenship he could play for either country, him not being able to speak the language of the country is kind of weird though. Every dual citizenship person I have met has been fluent in both.

I've seen Arod speak spanish many times. Don't know if has an accent or not though.

 Wow dude big deal. What is the big deal about what he did in the ALCS? Is it cheating when a guy on 3rd runs into the catcher with the intent of knocking the ball out of his glove? How is this any different? There were plenty of players/oldtimers (like Joe Morgan) who said that they would have done the same thing as Arod. And how do you know that Jeter hates him? Do you talk to him? Everything that Jeter has said seems to indicate that Arod is good friend and a great teammate? Egotistical? Wonder what happened to his ego when he saved that kid in Boston from getting hit by a car? How do you know that hes not a team player? Has a Yankee told you about this? Sucking the life out of them? Without him the Yankees would be 2nd to last place in their division. How is he hurting them financially? The team has a $200 million dollar payroll and he only accounts for about 8 to 9% of it. I wish Sox fans would get over the failed Arod trade and stop bashing him because of that. If he were in a sox uniform today, I guarantee you there would be a line several miles long with sox fans trying to suck his cock.

when he signed with TEX he actually had a list of demands (he has to have a private jet, be the most seen face in advertisements in that city, etc.) his agent is scott boras for God's sake.
