I understand what happened. Trump is the greatest con artist who ever lived. That will only become more apparent to anybody willing to see it as this unfolds. The Repub base, of course, has been getting conned for over 20 years with one flimflam or another, all of them riding on Repubs' core ideology of trickle down economics. Once conned, they stay conned, blind stubbornness being the dark side of loyalty. Discussion of the whole "drain the swamp!" song & dance is tribute to that.

How do you suppose he'll do that? Bring back millions of manufacturing jobs? There's nothing in it for the financial elite so it obviously won't happen..

Build a wall & go nuts with deportations? The only satisfaction in that is knowing that somebody else is getting screwed harder than you are. The whole idea is a job killer because it's a demand killer.

Military spending? Unless we take it to Reaganesque levels it's a damned ineffective way to stimulate the economy. The money flies straight from there into the hands of the financial elite, every time.

But the used car saleman says it's got the valuable $5k undercoating on it he can't take off and 5 mouths to feed at home, so the centrists will meet him in the middle at 13 just to get a deal done. Only there's those 5k aftermarket wheels on there too so we'll tack on another 1 or 2k at most to keep everyone happy.
