My Prediction for the 2010 elections: The democrats wil surprise you

Americans cannot see the big picture. So I predict come November that many of these democrats who have been fearing for their lives will actually get a lot of votes. obama has proven to a political machine... and when he has $350 billion to buy votes for the dems in danger... republicans don't stand a chance.

obama should open up a school for politicians. Even though the unemployment rate has not moved (if you factor out census jobs it moved the other way)... the american public will see good things going on locally by November 2010 (provided they live in a district where their congressman are up for relection)... and probably ensure a number of incumbents stay in office.

Obama's magic is gone. The BP oil spill, doesn't matter who you choose to blame, I think has finally shown to enough that the federal government is not capable of solving all the world's problems. Obama's 2008 campaign I would liken to Homer Simpson's campaign for sanitation commissioner The Garbage Man Can = Yes We Can.

And come November when unemployment is likely still hovering between 9 & 10 percent, and they see government money being given to a "chosen" few while he still has nothing... Sure a large chunk has not been spent yet, but where exactly are they going to spend it?

If you haven't figured out their plan yet, you must be watching MSNBC and reading the Daily Kos too much, or something along those lines.

I mean, seriously, what's the Dems plan, spend what we don't have and promise what we can't deliver? You see what's going on in Greece and now in Spain? Like, if the Republican's plan were just to oppose Obama it would be more along the lines of spending only what we have and promising only what we can deliver. Sounds reasonable to me!

Lesser of two evils, you might be right to a degree; but while Obama has yet to reach Bush levels a good chunk of his magic is gone. He's a bureaucrat through and through. His lack of productive action and nothing-but-talk policies are showing more and more with each passing day.

This, in spades. I don't think it's guaranteed though; most people don't follow politics at all, and the same Democrats who voted for the Obama agenda will be running to the right of the Republicans this fall. Add in the huge financial advantage of the Dems and the possible spoiling affect of Tea Party members running as independents and the Dems will be much harder to beat than most pundits are thinking.

The main problem is not enough seats are up for grabs. I think all the seats should have 2 year terms so we could vote them all out at once depending on what the voters wanted to do. That way all the seats would come up for a vote all at once.

My prediction is that you're wrong, if only because Obama ain't running for POTUS on any 2010 ticket. He doesn't need to, he'll be President until at least 2012. He got a 4 year term like every other president.

A 35 seat total loss, even if they narrowly retain both houses, is a pretty big drubbing in electoral terms. In political terms, it's still a moderately large drubbing, as the narrow margins will make it much harder for them to push anything through. Consider how it's been with healthcare and financial reform as it is. It will be much worse after November if they lose that many seats.

I think you're wrong.

Very little of that stim money is going to any projects that can really be seen. I.e., no vote buying effect.

About the only thing we may be seeing is a little re-paving job here or there. That's more an annoyance than any thing else, I don't care how many "economic recovery" signs they put up.

The stim package was f'n joke of epic proportions.
