My phone fell in the crapper! *UPDATE* it works!

DAMN! I just dropped my cell phone in the toilet! Thank god nothing was in there! I took out the battery and washed it all anyway (hey, ya never know!). If I let this dry out for a few days, what are the chances that it will work? Its a Samsung 3500.

***UPDATE***

I took it apart and left if in front of my AC (not compressing, just air flow) on high. I put it back together this morning and popped in the battery and BAM! The sucker works. Thanks all for you heart felt sympathy! 😀 Of course I thouroughly washed this sucker first! 😱

Was it on when you dropped it in? I give it about a 50/50 chance of working. A friend of mine left her's out in the rain, and she ended up having to get a new one. Another friend dropped his in a cup of coffee, same result. Just make sure you let it dry out completely before trying to use it.

I have a friend who ran over her cell phone with her car. Twice. Did it once, realized she ran over it, then backed up over it again. It still works, and looks fine.

<< PICS!
Actually that's pics of my company's pager in the toilet. The guy who had it didn't even realize until we told him.
>>

why did you do that?:Q

Well see...they keep in a belt-clip holder, but it easily falls out as you pull your pants up.
The guy who had it must have dropped it in and didn't notice.
This other dude comes in and says "I think one of our pagers is in the toilet."
I'm so glad I got in on the DC3200 deal 🙂
Unfortunately the guy who took the pictures of him fishing it out screwed them up.

i used to sell pagers about 5 years ago.
back then, customers would come in with their broken pagers...
and they'd tell me that it got wet.

the first question that i ask is how.
if it fell in a toilet, which lot of people did,
i stop them right there and say it's broken for good. 🙂

in actuality, as long as you dry it well, it should be okay.
when stuff like this gets wet, there's a chance of short circuiting.
but since the voltage/amphere is so low, it's highly unlikely even if it was on.

the problem with drying this is... that it's can't stretch the circuit or leave a watermark on sensitive devices.

well... good luck.

<< The phone was off. I usually turn it off so I dont get "disturbed" when I um....well you know! >>

If you had it off so you were not going to be disturbed while doing the deed, then why take it in the bathroom in the first place?

Someone explain to me how the hell THAT HAPPENS?!?!
>>

It happened while he was driving. He usually puts the phone in the cupholder. Only this time he had a cup of coffee already there. Didn't even notice for a good hour or two. When they took it apart at the store took the thing had coffee grounds in it. Even the guy that worked there couldn't keep from laughing.

Could be worse - I dropped my toothbrush in the toilet this morning.

(No I didn't use it - it went straight to the garbage can, and I bought a new one on my lunch hour.)
