if that worked for you, it makes me think that problem is that your ram is unstable for some reason or another at those speeds. just wondering dooz, what speed is your ram rated at (pc1600 or pc2100) and what company did you purchase it from?

I don't know what company the ram is.. cause it's from my sister..
I have 2 x 256mb sdram pc133 (or is it pc1600? i'm not sure)...

I tried taking 1 out.. still freeze..
so you got any idea what the problem is?
:(

I'm glad you fixed it marcoco.. but are you sure it's the DVD player that was causing the freeze? I thought you brought a new PSU..

I agree with the others - 250W is really pushing it with any system, much less an AMD system that's also decked out like yours.

Try pulling some RAM, drives and cards and see if the problem goes away. If it does it's most certainly your power supply.

Also make sure you have the latest BIOS and chipset drivers for your system.

would I not also freeze in Safe MOde?
Not necessarily. A lot of hardware features are disabled in that mode so it might lighten your PC's power requirements.

heya DoOz,

I never did get that new Power Supply.
I just noticed that my DVD player was acting funny.

I think it may have been the power cord connected to the dvd player that may have been doing funnies.
maybe because it was loose the power requirements were fluctuating or shorting. Who knows.

I see you, like me, piggy backed onto this thread hoping to find answers...

Try running ram tests on the ram (maybe switching them to another PC that doesnt freeze to test them)

If not, it sounds like its pointing to a power supply issue. Press the cords in to make sure they are connected well on all your devices. My dvd's cords looked and felt fine, but for some reason, no power was getting to it. After pressing on the cords and rebooting it was fine.
