I really hate threads like this.
You're an idiot, parents have no respect for kids anymore, they forgot what it's like to be a kid. My friends all drive nicer cars, why should I be stick in a corrolla?

ROFL. Please tell me my ****** sarcasm meter is broken... If my parents gave me something, and I didn't like it because my friends had something better, they'd beat my ass and let me continue walking for being such an ungrateful bitch.
That's child abuse. Did your parents also make you mow the lawn? Child labor. Mow dishes and take out trash? Child labor. You probably didn't even get minimum wage for chores.

Were your parents paying your cell phone bill? If not, you got an issue.

It's not easy being a kid, you've got to fight for your rights.

I agree with you 100%. When parents have their babies they should plan on providing a suitable vehicle when they learn to drive. A unreliable, unfashionable car is NOT adequet and frankly it pisses me off to see a kid that is forced by his parents hand me down into driving a oldsmobile. Parents simply have no respect for what their kids deserve anymore.

just my 5 cents

You AT'ers are stupid, no respect for him - HS isn't easy, BMW/Mercedes is a minimum these days, have we forgotten basic principles of society and life?

sadly that is somewhat true...I see kids driving around Audi's, beamers, A C6 corvetter, a mazda RX8 and so on...Of course this is college but I bet they didn't buy it 😛
I don't really care when they get a nice car, if the family is well off and has the money for a purchase like this, it's their call, but when a child complains, it's time for them to be slapped and STFU. How have they not hit reality yet?

Exactly, I remember how we were giving Skoorb advice on starting a Nissan fund at his child's birth, I told him if it was a Nissan, a skyline R34 with money for upgrades is the minimum, or at least a 350z, who could be seen in anything less?

You poor unfortunate soul. How dare they buy you a very good and reliable car.

Too difficult to rice up. I totally understand! :disgust:

See, you have the right idea. A kid with an expensive car is a kid who will TAKE CARE of that car. If you give a kid some crappy buick, they are gonna trash it and wreck it.

Give the kid something he will love...like a Z4 or something and he will take care of it and learn to respect the car and be more aware of the drivers around him.

OP, I can't believe your parents are screwing you over like this. I would bitch at them until they give you what you deserve

EDIT: Here is me with the car my parents bought me when I turned 16 last year...It wasn't the color I wanted so I had my parents get it repainted

I would love a new 2007 Corolla. Im trying to scourge up money right now to buy my friends 92 Civic that looks like trash but it works...

Gee, my hand me down car that I got to USE the summer AFTER I turned 16 was made one year before I was born! Ah, but the big back seat came in handy. Then no car for me for the first two years of college until the parents bought a new one, then I got to take the old one to school where the big trunk could hold 12 full cases of beer. Try that in a Corolla. Finally a year after graduation the old POS really started falling apart so the parents LENT me 90% of the money for a newer used one, which I paid back. So shadddup.

If my parents bought me a Corolla or a Civic or something, even used, I'd just about wet myself with joy. I'm happy enough they're paying for my college. I wouldn't say "okay, I guess, but I didn't really want a Corolla." No, that's what spoiled beeyotches do.

Edit: I went to one of the biggest high schools in the nation, in one of the richest counties in the nation. It was crazy seeing the cars in the parking lot. It was like a luxury car seller's lot.

**eagerly bashes refresh to see if this is sarcasm**

If you don't like it I'll take it off your hands. I could use a nice new car. Mine is starting to get up there in miles.

Parents have told me they are only giving me $10,000 for a downpayment on a car when I graduate, kind of disapointed.

Kids these days and their self entitled attitudes.... I'm lucky my parents were nice enough to give me 2.5k for my first car (Black 95 Jetta which I miss oh so much).

graduate -> job -> money

Your parents should give you a post-birth abortion instead for being a tool.
