So what is the reason you clear the cmos so much???? I rarely have to period in 3 years. Most of my mobos if I set it too high ram or cpu it will fail to boot...I hit reset again and it boots back to default cpu speed and fsb. I have pushed this mobo like no other and I have yet to ever clear the cmos...Am I missing something???

i think i just reboot too much or save to the cmos too much

all i do is try different settings for hours on end till i find the max the system can do
i guess they aren't designed for that

i never had to do all this clr-cmos crap with my old asus a7v
if the system wouldn't boot with you settings it would default to safe settings and boot the system for you
no need to clear the cmos ever

i must have cleared the cmos on this P4 system 10 to 15 times today

i've read about similar bios corruption problems and some say they've fixed it by replacing the 3v cmos battery with a 3.3v one

also anyone know where to get ic7 max3 bioses for cheaper than 16.99 bucks a pop plus shipping ???

any of you own this board and live in san diego who wouldn't mind flashing me a bios chip ??

ok i just bought another bios chip from excaliberpc.com and put in the message section to contact me if they have 3.3v cmos batteries

now i have 5 corrupt bios chips
i ain't putting the next one in till I get a new more powerfull battery
maybe the batteries just wear out after so many saves in a row and dip below 3v

yeah I should , I guess i just got lazy

I am soo lazy in the past when I have cleared the cmos I just pull the battery anyways and that resets it.....

Glad to hear you are back in the game. I was hoping this would yield you in the 2.8ghz, but none the less it looks great....

thanks, i should get the bios chip in the mail on tuesday maybe
hopefully it will work and the motherboard itself or cpu isn't fryed

i'll keep everyone updated

Shame you couldnt get the 2.0m or an '02 model 1.8 as they manage 2.5ghz at 1.51v. I have one in my divx box with just a 80mm fan running at 1800rpm ontop of a zalman.

I have a 2.0 P4M on an Abit IS7-E, running 220fsb with1.575v(actual 1.52). Temps are around 50c at full load, using 1 Corsair 512mb XMS PC3200 at 1:1. This seems to be my sweet spot with this setup, i can run a higher fsb but need to lower the memory ratio. Memory is set to speed in the bios, i believe this memory is topped out at 220 with 2.7v. I'm using the original bios the board came with(14). A fast machine for the money, i bought the board from Newegg's refurbished section and traded for the cpu here at Anands. I'm considering flashing the bios to the latest, or trying the B3 bios. Any suggestions on either 🙂

Gary

Yeah try for 3.0ghz with a 5:4 memory ratio, you will get massive improvements in speed (5400mb/s with dual). You might require 1.75vcore, but dont be scared!

hahaha ok i just got my new bios chip today so i'm back in action
i'm just gonna leave it at 2.4ghz qith 1.55v for now
the chip won't go much higher anyways

anyone know if they are releasing any socket 478 chips on .09u or are they just moving to a new socket next year for sse3 and 1ghz fsb speeds ??

The new celeron's look like they could be good, 256kb cache starting at 2.8 and 3.06ghz with possibly a 2.66. Unfortunately a 533mhz bus, but I reckon that 2.66 might hit a 400mhz bus for a 4ghz total speed - 😀

i got it running much higher with 5:4 fsb/mem ratio

i am at 1.73v for 2.85ghz

pretty damn good
and i got my highest 3dmark2k3 score of 1959

Wow, now that is impressive!! Now I know why you end up frying so many components Soulkeeper 😉.

Keep it up, though. Nice results! If you had a DX9 card, you'd be smoking in 3dmark 2k3.
